    I currently have a Dell 1420 with a 2.4 ghz cpu and a x3100.

When I run the screen saver there is alot of lag. About 2-3 second refresh. All it does is go in sperts. Is the gpu the limit?

The GPU can't handle it, I'm afraid.

I have to say the x3100 is a very bad card. That's just me of coarse. Like others have said your screen saver is to demanding.

If you can return it still. I would Return it and get a laptop with at least a 8400GS but I would recommend trying to get laptop with a 8600GT

Well anything to do with graphics the x3100 is not a good idea but if you will use your laptop for other things you will be fine!

2.4 Ghz is too much for a card like that, or the card less enought. Like they said, a 8600m GT would do the job.
