So, I was playing a game around a month back and it was working just fine. Now, I am playing the same game without changing even a single setting and the game is running slow, stuttering. New games like Batman Arkham Origins and a few other are also stuttering, even when the the graphics settings are lower than the Optimal.
The only thing I changed in was the GPU driver. Currently on 13.11b4. I am also tried switching to earlier versions like 13.9 but the stuttering is still there. GPU is 6770m and i7 2630QM.
    Any idea?

change it back to the driver that previously worked for you.
gpu drivers can be hit or miss.

I tried the old version, but no visible change. Also tried most of the versions from the old one which I was using to the current.

it's not the video driver, something else is reducing pc overall performance. What did you install/unstall in the past month beside GPU driver?

Quite a number of softwares. But I close most of them from task manager before running any games.

I see the word most... Try using process explorer and look at each process cpu usage.

I tried closing all the other non-essential programs and processes, even "explorer", anti-virus, firewall and anything using more than 50,000K memory (from task manager). But the stutter was more or less the same.

It is not the amount of memory used that is the issue. Something is using the cpu. Try process explorer to find it. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

Make sure to turn on individual process graphs of cpu usage. Then look for the spikes.

I have never had to reinstall Windows to fix a software problem. Of course it was my job to fix problems...
