Wow, good catch Deen0X!
They did change it... That doesn't significantly impact my plans with it, but @HTWingNut I know you wanted the full size.

update.
GPD reverse their announce, and will keep the USB Type-A port. -
Good. Now they just need to change the micro-USB to Type-C. That makes most sense because it's the charging port and will get repeated install and removal. I've had too many micro USB fail/break on me in phones and tablets. Usually not too difficult to repair, but still a pain in the rear.

No way am I slapping down $300 on an Indiegogo with no guarantees, that's about the max I'd pay at retail and even then I'd have to think hard about it. Not sure why they are crowdfunding this but it doesn't sit right with me, I hate this trend of large companies risking customers' money to subsidise production costs.
Looking like a nice device though, if it's released and is sensibly priced I will definitely pick one up to replace my tablet and GPD XD. -
They're actually going to fund it, it appears. With 2 months left, there's over 292 backers and it sits at 85,000 dollars. True to my word, once it hit 75,000 I too backed it. I feel like the closer to the goal, the more people back it. It's having a snowball effect right now, and I'm very excited to have my first UMPC in years.

I may get two more. If think if they hit their goal and beyond, it better come to fruition.

Indiegogo crowdfounding goal reached

@Ethrem
Hey Ethrem, since they've managed to fund the product and it's going to come out now, can we change the name of the thread to GPD-Win or something more relevant? -
@HTWingNut Great news- they confirmed in the comments section by reaching the goal so quickly they'll be using the upgraded x5-8550 chip. A bit quicker clock speeds, slightly better GPU. Nice!
-
Wow, great. Yeah I thought the title should be about GPD-Win instead of Smach-z now.
I'm curious why the Smach-Z didn't take off. I think their goal of 990k Euros was a bit ambitious.Last edited: Mar 4, 2016 -
I saw your question, (at least someone with the same username) and early on when they were discussing this, the community was very vocal in saying we wanted 64 bit because 32 was a waste with the 4GB on Atom. Kendy has repeatedly said on the forums it is full and licensed. Hopefully that helps even though I know you'd like to hear it from GDP themselves
I feel another question that I'm going to start trying to get answers to is if it's 2x2GB for Dual channel or a single channel 4GB module. The 4GB single would be much slower.HTWingNut likes this. -
Yes. Needs to be dual channel. Z8550 supports it, will only help igp. And thanks for confirmation, I just want to hear it's full win 10 64-bit from them. I like ideas of revised keyboard layout, but that's less likely to happen. But camera should be part of the stretch goal.

Hmmm I think we need the unique topic for GPD WIN instead of hijacking this one. The GPD is looking good actually. I am not even considering yet for heavy gaming but as a substitution for a tablet that can game light stuff like terraria or something.
I might consider a future iteration with a stronger CPU and GPU. -
I agree with ryzeki. Besides, GPD-Win sounds like a virus... Great pwnage destroyer of Windows...

Smach Z is in Prototype stage now and has been funded https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/smachteam/smach-z-the-handheld-gaming-pc
I see that you can also switch out the control for different types like a Dpad and Xbox instead of those controls that you have to stroke it a hundred times to turn around. I'm not sure about the lack of keyboard though. My GPD Wins keyboard is very useful for basic stuff. -
So with the Smach Z you be able to get better FPS than the GPD WIN ?
Gaming performance should be better right? -
-
I was interested in another handheld that is in Prototype stage called Pyra but they don't support Windows 10. -
