So in dxdiag it says my video card (8700m gt 512mb) has 1282mb of video ram currently working on it instead of the 512mb default amount. When I went to the graphics cards properties panel I got the same amount.

So I was wondering if my system is really only using 1.4gigs ram instead of the full 2gigs. Because I have been noticing alot of lower fps counts in my games.

    Specs:
    CPU: intel core duo 1.8ghz
    Ram: 2gigs
    GPU: 8700m gt 512mb

any help will be appreciated :)

No your computer is not using the shared memory. Windows Vista automatically assigns 767MB of graphics memory to your graphics card incase it's ever needed. This system ram is only used when needed (you running out of VRAM in a specific task). It will not affect your performance in any way as your card has 512MB of dedicated VRAM. Note if you look closely you’ll also see on the same window in clear writing “System Video Memory” being 0, which means no share memory is being used.
