Sniper FPS Titles

Do you guys know of any such games? I'm really into them b/c of their strategic and action-based gameplay but they aren't too common. My specs can be found in my signature.

 

well.. all fps have a sniper rifle.. but i don't particularly know of a game based on snipers...

 

Hmm, the original Ghost Recon could be heavily sniper based, depending on how you played.

 

I have one called Marine Sharpshooter its a `10$ game and its pretty good actully. Beyond that your best bet is to bust out the quaters and go to the arcade and play silent scope 1/2 where you get to use a sniper rifle!

Also battlefield 2 and battlefield 2142 both let you play a sniper if you like with good results.

I'm sorry but Marine Sharpshooter was one of the worst games I've ever played in my life, budget title or not. It's not worth 10 cent let alone dollars. Luckily, Marine Sharpshooter II and III are a lot better, but only graphics wise - so you have a relatively pretty game but the same old pathetic, bland storyline and banal action i.e shoot guys over and over with no variation in scenery or even sound effects.

Sniper Elite isn't really an FPS but 3rd person, but it's the best damn sniper game out there.

I second sniper elite, that game is a BLAST!!

 

For a challenge for you and your laptop check out "ARMA" or Armed Assault definitely not an easy run and gun type of FPS

Of course my interest is perked for why you're looking for a "sniper" FPS specifically

 

because he's training to be a sniper, why else

 

Review of Marine Sharpshooter from IGN

The very latest one, Marine Sharpshooter III, got these reviews from IGN and Gamespot: And keep in mind this is actually the best of the lot!

I implore you to ignore those who actually recommend this pile of crap...

but anyway, speaking of budget games, here's a sniper one that's actually pretty decent. ww2 Sniper: Call to Victory. The graphics are dated but functional (think Allied Assault), the sound is plain, but for some reason it is just a bit of good fun, unlike Marine Sharpshooter.









Should be able to get it nowadays for 5-10 dollars.

 

I would say BF2, sniper class in there is my favorite, loads of weapons to choose from and enough sniper tactics implemented in the game. Also claymore spamming is loads of fun.

 

I'm telling you in all seriousness: FAR CRY. Once you pick up the sniper rifle, you'll have plenty of opportunities to snipe at over a KM away.

 

Does sniper elite have any issues on vista????

Enough said! Best sniping experience out of any game i've ever played

 

Oh also, and I know this is way old, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, any version... There are a few sniping guns you can use in that game and its fairly realistic

 

I think any FPS made since about 1998 features a sniper rifle, so no real point suggesting titles that just feature it as recommendations....otherwise, we'd be recommending everything

I will look at Marine Sharpshooter 3, but I've tried the demo for Sniper Elite and I a think that I am sold.

The reason why I'm looking for a sniper FPS in particular is, like I said earlier, because they have a rare style of play that I like; instead of running in with guns blazing, you have to strategize a lot more. Should you try sniping them all those Red Army soldiers, or is it better to make covert kills? Should you leave yourself only one path of escape by setting trip-mines on all the others or not? Some people hate these kinds of games, but I love them.

I love to snipe in Far Cry. Ghost Recon (orig) would come in close second but the graphics really look like something from the last millenium .

 

Although the graphics in Sniper Elite aren't amazing, they are satisfying; even better is the bullet camera when you pull off a headshot!!

 

I can't recommend any sniper games, but if you're into tactical games, SWAT 4 is amazing.
