I must say bravo. I do enjoy this horror/sci-fi genre of fps that have been put out lately, and the original FEAR was a favorite of mine. FEAR 2 has, yet again, managed to turn me into a ball of blubbering mush. They seem to take a "less is more" aproach with all the scare tactics and that was a very, very smart move. The long periods of tension and firefights seperated by some horrifying sequence of events that causes me to still glance over my shoulder while I sit in a brightly lit room, mmm! Very classy :D

I haven't had a lot of time to play yet, so I'm going to go stock up on fresh underwear.

Anyway, I saw they have some downloadable content out now too, if anyone has play, is that worth the 5 bucks?

I bought Fear 2 some 6 months ago but i didn't like the film grain effect so i stopped playing. A week ago i installed it on my dv7 and while flipping through the menus i saw it was possible to disable the movie grain effect so i am back into Fear 2 right now. Very good game and it runs very well on the 4650.

Wasn't a bad game. The ending does leave for a sequel though.

One game that did make me cringe was Clive Barkers Undying. Just the sound effects scared the bejesus out of me

Aw man, i was gonna tell you that you might want to get that changed :D

Anyways, yeah the Demo was somewhat scary a lot of people don't like this game though. They feel is strayed from the original FEAR Formula.

Wanna play a scary FPS? Play CONDEMNED either the first or second. Man those games send chills up your spine. The ambiance is amazing.

I always found the scary thing about Fear and Fear 2 isn't the little things they make pop out. It's when there's nothing to scare you. I always walk down a hall and have to glance behind me every 5 seconds

I didn't find fear 2 really scary compared to the first one. It seemed more action and less alma. Or maybe I just got less scared because I already finished the first one. Anyway last game that freaked me out was penumbra.. When you're alone in an underground facility with a bunch of weird mutated humans and all you have is a coin and a broom..

I find all the FEAR games not scary at all. :p (I've played all the expansions including FEAR 2 Reborn)
They're all good enjoyable FPS but kinda fail in the "suppose to be scary" parts imo... (it's probably because I've played so much FEAR games & expansions in the last few years.. I got so used to the FEAR environments that the darkness and the special effects are like nothing to me :p, although I do like some of the cool special effects)

Never found Fear to be scary, if anything qualified it would be Dead Space, its a true mirror of what would be a really scary movie, but I still dont scare that easy.

I have had a game to make me jump, when I was younger Doom 64 did that a few times and so has Doom 3 on PC. Not scary but when your in the dark playing with headphones on in the middle of the night and some demon just appears out of nowhere and screams in your face it kinda startles you.

I'm asking my dad to bring me FEAR 2 when he goes home (he's in Aussie right now, so I'm expecting he'd be home Christmas) since I don't wanna use the money I'm saving up for a 4650 lol. I was able to play up to Extraction Point on my crippled-former-joke-of-a-GPU GMA950 equipped Lenovo, and well effects were mostly disabled so it wasn't much fun.. I loaded up FEAR just this weekend and it got me wanting FEAR 2 again. :D so hope he does bring home one..

On a side note, have you guys been to that horror-website hotel626.com or something? a friend gave it to me and a few minutes in and I closed my browser immediately! lol

F.E.A.R is a good game but heck... it's scary :D I haven't played many scary games but I played Alone in the Dark once and it was really scary. Also I've played a game called Fahrenheit which was pretty scary to considering the story.

Startling and scary are two different things. Almost all of today's game only startle you: Dead Space, Fear, etc. Basically a "Boo" type of scare.

A game that crawls in your skin and makes your heart beat at full speed, is scary. A game such as penumbra. And basically can make any insignificant thing scary, even if is not there.
