Every post about graphics card in this forum usually contains some reference or allusion to Crysis...so basically i realized that this game is all about eyecandy....
Graphics wise: Sure it has some awesome graphics, but you need a pretty awesome graphics card to play it.
SLI 7950s or 8700s can probably play it at 1200x800 with everything on max and AA on 16x and AS with decent frames... not exactly cheap gaming.
Eyecandy: Probably the most important thing about this game, i have to say it looks absolutely drop dead gorgeous (if jessica alba was a video game, then it would be crysis lol)
Gameplay wise: Farcry with aliens and more superpowers? doesn't sound that original. I seen the gameplay videos, there are lots of eye candy, but its just shoot and run game. Crytech said it was more original cause of the smart AI...ok...so? Most recent FPS games have good if not great AIs
Conclusion: Regular FPS except for graphics. Not so ground breaking, not worth getting if you can't enjoy the eye-candy!

Can we wait for a game to be released before we start attacking its gameplay? How the heck do you know if it's good or not? Reviewing something negatively before you get a chance to play it - I call sour grapes: just because your computer can't play it doesn't make it bad.

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Power struggle is an interesting concept which promotes good teamwork with prestige points and rewards others for more than just killing. The beta demonstrates it well.
The graphics give it time. I have no idea what crytek was touting about that the game was almost ready but yeah no wonder the demo was delayed, the most powerful pcs are having a hard time playing this game. They need to optimize more and more drivers will most certainly be on the way by nvidia within this next month and a half.
What game was revolutionary? Stalker was interesting but nothing revolutionary. Only game I think can of thats truly revolutionary is Portal. Other than that Spore seems like an interesting concept although a bit too childish and seems like after the intial creature building it turns into your typical rts. Portal is the only revolutionary title I can think of, the rest are just mainly evolutionary.
Conclusion: Buy portal if you want revolutionary. Crysis from what I've played is good not great (gameplay wise). -

2) Gamespot and IGN previews and gameplay videos can tell alot about a game (especially with the amount of stuff both sites did)
3) lol getting a 8800 GTX for my desktop for christmasand a gig of ram (if i can afford it)
4) Never said it was bad, i'm just saying its not that groundbreaking and its over-hyped because of its extreme amount of eye-candy
To The Forerunner:
Haven't heard much about portal, just know its a game in the orange box. Original Half Life was ground breaking (brought FPS to a new level)
CS was ground breaking (everyone plays this now)
BF 1942 was groundbreaking (flag capture and stuff)
Starcraft was ground breaking (3 separate factions with totally different units/tech trees) -
LoL at the Jessica Alba reference.

Alvin I agree with some of the games you listed but I meant recent games that are revolutionary.
"The impossible is easy."
"If at first you don't suceed, you fail."
Love that trailer. -
It's an FPS, if you can categorize a game then you know roughly what to expect out of its gameplay. Even HL2 with its gravity gun feature played just about identically with its predecessor, only thing that changed was the number of ways one could "kill" what was on screen.

Its an awesome game because:
You get sandbox2 (fully editing possibilities... look on youtube, and its what you see is what you play kinda like Garrys mod 10 )
Great physics and effects
Great online play with custom maps and weapons
Many many hundreds of mods are being created for it -
Umm the game is just pure fun I played it for at least an 1 1/2 at Digital Life Saturday and was just amazed by the fun nature of it all. It's so DO WHAT YOU WANT there's just so many different gameplay options. Like its one of those games that you can see there being youtube videos of people doing all sorts of silly things because the game lends itself to that kind of free form fun. Not to mention it just BLOWS A HUGE LOAD on anything else out there visually. I also got to play it on like the hardest difficulty(we became real cool with the guy demoing he was a cool dude) so we also got C4 and the Rocket Launcher INTENSE! The draw distance is insane he shot a rocket to a mountain 10 miles away and it LITERALLY HIT IT, sure it took a while but it hit it. The game is definitely worth at least a try, but you know I'm buying it to run on my new rig.

As far as I'm concerned IT'S STILL NOT OUT YET. So can we hold these stupid debates until IT'S RELEASED. Usually it's a moot point to argue about a game AFTER it comes out. But it's absolutely INSANE to fight over the qualities of a game PRE-RELEASE. Makes me really want to bring back UNICORNS v HORSES.
-
What's discussing what we know of it hurt? There's a demo out so there's plenty to review short of additional maps and single player campaigns. Is the thread taking up precious server STORAGE space with our RANDOM capitalized LETTERS?
Besides, unicorns are clearly superior to horses but we can't discuss it because UNICORNS aren't even OUT YET. -
As Lithus said “it’s not out yet” so we can’t really judge it much, but I can name some of the new revolutionary features this game has, not seen in any other game at all, or to the same extend:
- Dynamic Day & Night Cycle
- Sunrays and Diffuse Transmission
- Soft Shadows
- Soft Particles
- Motion Blur
- Depth of Field
- Volumetric Clouds
- Ambient Maps
- Interactive Environments
- Destructible Environments
- Advanced Shader Technology
- Advanced Physics and Human Movements
- Intense Graphics (high detailed and models even on low they look good)
Crysis Multiplayer Beta my not include the full destructible environment and make full use of the physics either, but it still looks and plays like no other game (at least in my opinion). It plays very well even on my cr*py X1600 and it still looks two times better than FEAR on low settings at 1280x800.
PS. Most of the mentioned features above were taken from: http://www.crysis-online.com/Information/Graphics/ -
i kinda liked when u walk on the sand it actually leaves some traces(not anything extraordinary) and dust particles fly in the air

Awwww yeah man.... Just by reading a description of the game.. I mean all the technology and stuff put into this game is already enough info for me...
After youtube videos... I was like *NAno suit activated* lol
And after beta and release news... "Hey guys, see any koreans or aliens latelly? didnt think so... killed'em all" lmao -
From the videos I have seen Power Struggle has NOTHING on Battlefield 2
So any other reason to get Crysis except for eye candy?
