I really like Steam but I really do dislike the fact that the amount of demos they have is so few. Imho they should demand atleast a demo for a game. I rarely buy any guy without trying it. It is really annoying that they (Steam/game developers) think that it is ok. I can't think of many things I buy without even seeing or trying it. My laptop but that's because I think I have enough knowledge to know what to search and ask for, but besides that :(

Am I the only one with those thoughts

It's not really because steam doesn't have the game demos. It's that the games themselves don't have the demos available ._. Developers probably think that the demos are just "Extra unnecessary cost" and decided to not release one. I rarely even see much games nowadays that gives demos or trial except for the more popular ones and even that, is sorta rare

True, and that is what I say too :) But shouldn't Steam not demand a demo. With 30 milliomn users I bet it is a huge potential to have a game on Steam with promo on the first page.

And still I don't I will not buy a game without trying it

Demos require additional resources, i.e. time and money and talented bodies. Steam is a distributor, and if they wanted to fund a demo, then yeah, but I don't think Steam/Valve could force someone to make a demo. I'd rather they concentrate on patching and keeping the game running smoothly. I think demos are great, but IMHO a lot of times it can turn people off because it doesn't really show the full flavor of the game, and typically is based of buggy beta, sometimes alpha code.

most of the time, demos are litterally the beta product....

now they even charge for the real beta, lol...
