    Heh.

    Have had XPS M1530 with 8600M GT (GDDR3) for 2,5 years now. It has been serving me well, never overheated, never had any problems, always ran the games at mediumish/high settings (@1200x800) but now it seems .. it's giving up.

    All games stutter.
    All games get heavy rubber-banding effect.
    Laptop gets really hot (most likely the thermal paste has dried up a long time ago) {Yes, it's clean from dust}

    I have tried reinstalling the OS, different drivers (DOX modified and latest from nVidia), reinstalled - triplechecked all DirectX stuff, windows updates and any other possible faults. Yes, BIOS has been updated as well.

    So, is there anything else I could try - or should I just talk about it with Dell (it still has warranty til february) and let them do something about it?

    Anyhow, hopefully it'll last til Sandy-bridge machines are out in Europe, though it sucks I can't play any games on it at the moment ..

    I think your laptop is covered under the Nvidia litigation thing. So FREE REPAIR!!!

    He is probably right... Check here: The NVIDIA GPU Litigation - Affected Models

    Edit: But as you said your notebooks is still covered by Dells warranty, calling Dell is probably the faster and easier way.

    Mine worked flawlessly until the day until the day I sold the laptop (and I assume it still does)... however, I'm glad I got that GPU out of my hands...
