Hey guys, I said I would post some benchmarks of this card, however I am short on time atm and I said I would post the results after next weeks exams are over.

That does not stop me giving my impression of the card. Now obviously I like my graphics smooth (previously had an x1900gt) so I am a hard person to please. Even so it's done pretty well as a backup. Here are my thoughts:

    1. Any game more advanced than CS:S is a struggle especially at 1440x900, to get CS:S smooth enough for me I had to set everything to low. Particle effects hit this chip hard.

    2. It's memory bandwidth hungry (well duh I have explained this many times) Even with my ram at 400mhz (800DDR) at 4-4-4-12 timings.

    3. If you want to game then nothing beats a dedicated card, games like Eve, CS:S can be made to run at a pinch but you do loose out on smoothness and quality, as a backup though it runs all my videos/aero glass fine :)

Still I cant wait to get a new card, all we need now is some ATI cards and I can see if I should go over to Nvidia this time :)

Meaker, do you think the x1250 is just an evolutionary step from the x200M or something that will put the previous IGP to shame?

    :)

Managed to get some time to do a couple of benchmarks....

    537 in 3dmark 06
    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=1883926

    9114 in 3dmark 2k1
    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=9195538

This is with the rig in my sig but with the CPU at 2.4ghz, the NB at 266mhz (stock for it but not for CPU) and the ram at 400mhz (800DDR) 4-4-4-12 which is a better than a laptop will have. Remember this thing will scale the memory bandwidth and CPU frequency since:

    1. Its an integrated chip and starved for memory bandwidth
    2. It uses a software vertex shader (run on the cpu) so obviously its faster with a faster CPU

Its funny running the vertex test in 2k1, with the CPU free it managed to beat the vertex units on an radeon 8500, ofc give it anything else and you would be in trouble, it would be cool to assign the second core as a dedicated vertex unit.....

Any chance of getting a 3dmark05 score on the X1250 Meaker?

Yeah as I pointed out in my first post. I would still even recommend a low end dedicated GPU, I have set 256mb of ram to the GFX too.

    Wow that's a lot!

    For mobile comparison the Samsung R20 gets around 1100 in 3dmark05, that's with 128Mb X1250 and a Core Duo 1.73 (T2250?)

With 256MB it might get a good emount more... intrigueing!

The samsung R20 has the mobile xpress 1250 and a Core Duo cpu. It seems to get around 1100-1300 in 3dmark05, i presume the difference is due to 128 or 256mb of video ram. With 256MB it seems on par with the X1300 and geforce go 7300 which is certainly impressive.

TBH I think its more to do with me having substationaly more memory bandwidth, a higher clocked CPU (that does the vertex work). The chip should take any extra mem it needs. If I felt it safe to take the fsb to 334mhz and see the difference it would be interesting. Give me your ram speed and ill look into it? Also I can choose from 64-512, 512 might not work (and wont help anyway) but I could try 128.....

Actually since the memory frequency is independant of my FSB I could actually test the effect of both ^^ (as far as I know there are not many other boards like this).

Anyone know of any other mobile X1250s apart from the R20?

Yep, definitely a step up from the average X200M (450 in 3dmark05). I'm curious how the GMA X3100 benches in comparison.....

This is strange. Meaker, when I click the link from your sig I get a "Page Not Found" error. When I copy/paste it into a reply post, it works.

Ooops, looks like the frequency of the chip is dependant on the CPU stock frequency, so it comes out at 500mhz rather than 400mhz, oops (unless the desktop one is clocked faster....
