It's amazing how few threads there have been about this game, or what .. don't you people like ARPG's anymore?
Anyone who ever enjoyed Diablo series or Titan Quest will find this to be a excellent ARPG, mainly because :
* Massive map. And I mean it. I've been playng around 23h and I have uncovered only 7.2% of the whole map.![]()
There is a wide variety of different regions, running the spectrum from arid desert to tropical rain forest. Every region differs in its climate, terrain, architecture, inhabitants, flora, fauna and lighting.
* Hundreds of quests. Two diffrent campaign modes. Bronze/Silver/Gold/Niobium/Hardcore levels and fun MP.
And what personally really surprised me, was a animated music video in middle of the game, as you do the quest to collect guitars and stuff, you'll see a really awesome music video of Blind Guardian who sings to the mob-masses of Sacred 2 world.![]()
Perfect game to kill time until Diablo III finally releases. ;]
It's avalible on PC since November and will be on PS3/X360 next month. You can aslo grab it from Steam. Try it.

I was following this game for a while and when it came out it just didn't get great reviews and it slipped away for me. I would love to pick it up if steam ever has a sale for it. Was it worth the 50 bucks for you?
-
Well, metascore is strong 71/100.
Most of the reviews are giving 8/10. I just hope Sacred 2 wont be another TQ .. meaning the game will pick up after the company has bancrupt. -_-
The game did start out quietly, with only very few ads in gaming sites like GameFaqs and there have been around 5 huge patches - each around 500mb~900mb to add content and fix bugs. (Because most of the reviews rated it mediocre because of the bugs it had first.)
If you liked Diablos or Titan Quest then definetly try it out. And yup, it was well worth 50 for me. If I had found this game last year, it would have been my GOTY along with Fallout 3.
Also, if anyone decides to start playing it, then make sure to visit offical forums and check some guides/faq's. (Gotta register to see all forum sub-sections!)Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
if its metascore was 71 wouldn't most reviews be 7/10
-
this game has sprouted huge interest from me but the reviews scared me away. wich would be better this or neverwinter nights.i never got in to the neverwinter night series (console gamer) and wonder if that is a better bargain / bang for the buck.

I'm was immensely into Sacred: Underworld for the longest time, I actually enjoyed it much more than Diablo 2. I'm not interested in the pseudo 3D world they've developed for Sacred 2. I wish they would have stuck to 2.5D and focused more on developing multiplayer rather than designing a whole new environment and game engine.

Well, the console ports will be avalible in May and I would recommend it to anyone even with very slight intrest to Action RPG's.
You can always try the demo. Also Titan Quest metascore is just 77/100, so not much higher than Sacred 2 but the game was so much better in terms of gameplay and replayability than any other ARPG I know.
I'm still at my first playthrough in Sacred 2 world and been playng around 28 hours total and I'm still around lvl24 and met only very few bosses. There are over 600 quests total and they are somewhat diffrent in Light and Shadow campaing mode .. like, in Light mode you must save a town from some mobs/boss but in Shadow mode you must help to kill civilians and destroy the town.
Even though the game has been out like half a year, there is still much unknown about it, like how certain skills work, how to trigger some quests, how to get access to hidden dungeons and so on. -
Hmmmm.... so if I liked the NWN approach (i.e. turn based, no-twitching-required) maybe I should avoid Sacred 2? -

I think 7/10 is about right. It is a freakin HUGE game...map and quests and monster types. The story is so-so and it looks pretty decent graphically. I haven't played since the new Physx patch hit, so I'm sure the eye-candy is even better.
I have about 40 hours into it and am low 30's lvl wise, can't remember exactly. It truly is a Diablo clone action wise, but not as dark. No rest for the weary in between quest points.
There are some quirks that have been fixed...transporters are now available for more of the map, so traveling to earlier areas is less of a hassle. Horseback riding and mounted combat is in if you like that sort of thing...can be a pain at times when unmounted is necessary for certain combat skills, but it takes time to dismount.
All in all, a pretty fun game, but the vastness can make it seem a bit repetitious. -
How big is it compared to Titan Quest with the expansion? I'm debating which one to buy.
-
Titan Quest was pretty long from what i remember. i wish it was shorter though as it got pretty repetitive after about 20 hours. if you liked diablo then i don't think theres a better diablo clone out there right now.
-
I bought it a few weeks ago and I really enjoyed it for some time. However it really started to bore me after a few weeks. I tried all characters but eventually they all bore me or perhaps it's the repetitive game style? I liked Diablo II though(hooked for more than a year) and I'll love diablo III
Also the sound sucks, they have nice home made songs like when it's nice and peaceful but whenever an enemy atacks a heavy metal starts and if you kill the enemy it stops but 10 seconds later another enemy comes in and again the same song switch, really annoying!!!
Also the comments that your character gives are really weak and absolutly DULL!!! Funny thing; they promised character customization in this sequel but there 's nothing to be customized however, if you press shift I think it was, and selecter either high elf or seraphim you start with a permanent different haircolour...
Few people will like this game but I'll wait for Diablo III -
This game is longer than Titan Quest, that's for sure. In TQ you had 8 average sized maps to discover but in this you have one really huge map, which could be around ~ 12 or more TQ maps together.
Psynalizer - it is repeative, just like any other ARPG. Click-Click-Click.
I can't agree with your comment about sounds however, there are some really funny comments what mobs sometimes shout, the music which sometimes stops and then starts again is when a mob has noticed you and is agressive.
Like if you're lvl 25+ and see mobs lvl 5 then they don't attack you and the music doesnt start - they are escaping, lulz.
And yeah, the customization is a hot-topic in offical forums and from what I've seen, they said it'll be coming with a really huge patch this year. -
, I truly do, I know it has potential, maybe, I'll give it a try again
oh and I hope they give you the option customize mouse button's which is imo a big mistake to leave that behind for a game that's mouse based -
Theres alot of backtracking in this game, that's why you see alot of low-level mobs.
This game has already gotten around five 400mb~900mb patches so another one wouldn't be a surprise, lulz. I wish they would add a easier way to move between towns .. something like TQ had - teleport. (There are too few warp portals..) -
Btw what's your favo character? -
Well, I have only played with Death Warrior on Bronze, up to level 26, but I'm starting over in Silver to unlock Gold mode. (Because finishing Bronze doesn't get you anything)
Next character will be Temple Guardian, seems .. exotic. -
The biggest difference with NWN2 is that over half of NWN2 is planning and plotting out your characters (multiclassing, prestige classes, optimal leveling order to maximize skill points and feats, etc.). It's not an exaggeration to say that the time investment in researching combinations of classes and races, and planning can be longer than the gameplay of some campaigns. Sacred is all about the action. You can customize your character slightly through the course of the game, but you basically just pick a predefined character and hop right into the action and that essentially repeats until the end of the game.
-
I started in bronze with a TG and after a while I started again with a death warrior and I can assure you; the amount of xp you recieve is much higher, the game is much faster as is for level ups
I'd never start in bronze again; again: GO SILVER!!! -
I just picked up Titan Quest. Wow that is a great Diablo clone
-
i would love a new Titan Quest game but i think they're waiting for blizzard to release Diablo 3 to 'borrow' some of its game mechanics lol.
So what about Sacred 2?
