Now that Black Ops is out, I'm wondering what the next title will be.
Modern warfare 3? What do you guys think. Pretty sure activision isn't done milking this franchise yet.
Hopefully it will be built around a new engine.
The yearly releases is one of the reasons i stopped buying their games really.

A new franchise will emerge:
WORLD WAR: apocalypse -
Or how about call of duty halo style?
-
I remember when call of duty first began. It reminded me a lot of wolfenstein:Enemy territory and day of defeat:source. I wanted to get into the call of duty stuff, but being a laptop nut I had just got an alienware and after a few years the newer call of dutys were coming out and geting a new alienware wasn't in my price so I never kept along with the series but its a good series.
Id say call of duty:The Insurgent revolution... -
How about Call of Duty finally going into space? I thought they were thinking of doing that?
Or at least the future - maybe somewhere 21xx or something? That'd be interesting. -
If rumors were true that IW didn't want to do MW3, then CoD 9 will probably be MW3 by Treyarch or whatever's left of IW and CoD 8 supposedly Future Warfare by the newly formed Sledgehammer.

I dont' know what it will be, but I know it still wont be as good as Battlefield
-
They can't predict future wars without making many people very angry... Games like Metro 2033 get away with it cause it's fictional. Call of duty has always been fairly accurate on a history standpoint. I could see another black ops type of game, Desert Storm, and more in depth of Vietnam. They definitely have run low on material.

Call of Duty 9 is going to take place in the Jurassic era. Players will fight each other with clubs, spears, and rocks and the kill streaks will be various dinosaurs that come and eat other players.

With some luck, the Call of Duty franchise will be dead by then.

Or when russia invades america? Or when the US military betrays its own country and starts a world war?
Those were some serious moments in history. I remember studying them in class. -

Maybe they could do one on smaller conflicts. Everyone loves violence when it's played out in pixels. I really suck at world events, but maybe a game about the Six Day War, conflicts between Russia and ex-soviet states, anarchy in some African countries, etc. There are an abundance of countries with hostile neighbors. You could play out different skirmishes that happen between countries and then take part in an all-out assault. Or in the case of revolutions you can be among a group committed to overthrowing the government at any means (Castro), despite knowing death is imminent if you fail. Or as a citizen of a collapsed government (look up 'failed state' on wikipedia), you can join a faction and take up arms with whatever is at hand and wage war in your own neighborhood. A lot of this happens in real life, and I think it would be cool to see it brought to the attention of the masses. Games made by developers with sufficient talent, vision, and capital have the power to express emotions and teach lessons, all while entertaining the audience.
The developer could combine action, diplomacy and the greyness of history in one game. Plus they could use unique environments and weapons of localized conflicts. Maybe once they could make a game that wasn't centered on an American point of view. There is a lot of gritty **** that goes on in this world. It would be cool to see a developer tell the tale of some of the people who don't know whether they will be alive tomorrow because their town is an urban battlefield.
However, I'm sure such a game would offend the people to whom the conflict was and is real life. Also, the modern warfare CODs are too arcadey to change their ways now. Congratulations you just killed your neighbor that was fighting for the other warlord- plus 100 XP . Just throwing out ideas. -
I would like to see Call of Duty: Revolutionary War, only being able to fire 2 shots per minute would sure cut down on spray and pray. Bling would be a bayonet and flint guard.
-
Also i didn't learn this in my history class.
Well theres a new game coming out called homefront. Its about north korea invading USA, lol. -
-
Call of Duty: Gimme Some More of Yo Money, lol. Nah but seriously.....I don't think there will be a COD 9. Why? I don't know.

Call of Duty: Cavemen Warfare

Call of Duty: The Spartan War

For all those who can't seem to overlook the 'yearly release' thing, they would do well to keep in mind that there are two studios working: Infinity Ward and Treyarch and that each has a release every other yr (ex. IW released MW2 last year and Treyarch released Black Ops this year).
If Activision relied on just one of them for Call of Duty work, then yes......we'd see titles released on a 2-3yr basis, if not longer.
Back to the topic though, if you follow that 'every-other' pattern, CoD 9 would land back in Treyarch's camp (with CoD 8 presumably being MW3). Assuming that IW will have a tight lock on the modern-day/futuristic (ala BF 2142) settings, the only options which Treyarch would seem to have would be.....
A) a Black Ops sequel, making Alex Mason into a Cold War version of Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher
B) A full fledged Vietnam title
C) Something dealing with the Korean War (which to my knowledge, has never been dealt with in this medium)
Moving beyond Vietnam and up into the 80's, there's not too much more historical stuff from which to develop a decent story (Alex Mason taking on the Coke kingpins in Colombia? lol) Continuing on past that, you'd eventually run into MW territory. -
I don't see why desert storm couldn't be a game.
-
Doesn't matter the theme. Probably will still be a console game ported badly to PC. Will still use the lame perk system and reward crap for kill streaks. Will probably still have the lamest part of their recent series, quick sniping. It's an oxy-moron idiocy. And likely a camp fest and of course a smash hit with children who speak trash online because they can't in person.
-
After they release "Hats DLC" for COD 7 like in TF2, charging up to 30$ for a single hat that does nothing, they will release a mirrored version of COD7 with new skins and textures and call it COD 8. It will obtain critical acclaim and will be the best selling thing ever. Removing Dedicated Servers all-together and forcing PC players to use a 360 controller will increase the average rating by about 0.8 points. Price will also play an important role. As the price approaches infinity, the average rating will get closer and closer to 10/10, a perfect score.
I think they should do Tank warfare... -
Call of Duty: Civil Warfare
Imagine crap talk in that game -
But that'd make the whole game about knifing your opponents
-
Probably gonna do a Future Warfare thing or make like 3 Vietnam war games in a row. Civil war and Revolutionary war don't seem all too attractive.

CALL OF DUTY: Hit Squad.
Same thing rebranded. You just wait and see. -
Call of Duty: Burmese Warfare? Every level would have to have 100's of land mines and occasionally war-lords would roll thru and kill everyone
Instead of a hellicopter strike after so many kills Rambo comes thru and kills the entire opposing team . . . . with a knife
Seriously though, I would like to see a CoD WWI based game. WWI is grossly overlooked and it has potential. There were some nice weapons in WWI and technology improvd thru WWI fastet than it did in WWII. Hell, you could start the missions off with stagnant trench warfare then a couple missions later the first tank rolls in. There is a lot of room to play with a WWI themed CoD or MoH game if they'd tap into it. -
One thing is for certain; They won't leave that cra**y old COD2-style engine for many years to come! Why bother? They make a ****ton of money on their incredible uninnovative games.

Calling it now.
Call of Duty: Only a Little Bit Better Then the Last Game, Just Enough to Spend 60 Dollars on a Game With Even More Perks for People Who Are Bad at the Game. -

Call of Duty: Ghetto Warfare, Streets of LA
-
Call of Duty: Super Robot War
or
Call of Duty: World at War 2 Invasion of Gundam -

Call of Duty: The Call of Duty

In fact, why is this thread talking about CoD9 in the first place when CoD8 is next?
So what will Call of duty 9 most likely be?
