I kinda lost track after buying my MBP. Sager, Alienware, yeah I used to do all the research before I made an acquisition.

But that was like half a year ago. So which one is the ultimate best laptop for gaming today? I don't care whether it's 17", it weighs a ton, it's $9,000 or whatever. Which one is like THE BEST out there?

    Cheers!

well, that MBP of your will last a couple more years. but in a month or so, the alienware 15xx and 17xx (or something like that) will have an 8800GTX.

Dell 1730 is without a doubt all things (eg service, price of service, longevity)
    is a better deal IMHO.

and it'll have 8800's before Christmas we expect.

He asked for the ultimate gaming laptop. RIGHT NOW that is the CLEVO D901C, namely the Sager 9261 - quad core processors, 2 nvidia 7950 GTXs, 3 hdd`s and 4 GB of DDR2 800 MHZ mem.
    Beat that , Dell !

undoubtedly, the fastest performing notebook in the world is the
    Sager 9261 (Clevo D901C)
    - Intel quad-core desktop CPU (LGA775)
    - SLI high-end MXM-IV cards (DX9 and DX10 cards available)
    - 3 internal HDDs (can house up to 960GB with three 320GB's) w/ RAID 0,1,5

The next up are the SLI notebooks using mobile CPUs:
    - Alienware M17x (launching on Nov 19th)
    - Dell XPS 1730
    - Alienware M9750
    - Toshiba X205/SLI
    - Sager 5960 (Clevo M590K/KE)
    - Alienware M9700

Then you got the numerous single-card notebooks, most with mobile, some with desktop CPUs.

    10x Lucidburner :D
There ya have it, Gophn put it as clear as possible. Hopefully , the D901C will have the 8800M GTX in SLI ASAP,so it will remain the king.

I'm really hoping XoticPC will offer some kind of upgrade option so I won't have to hunt down the cards myself. Either way, I'm willing to pay upwards of $1000 to have the best mobile card in SLI. ;)

so despite having the mobile CPU, do you think the superior gpu of the new alienware notebooks are "better" than the desktop processors in the sagers with slightly weaker gpus? (I know it's hard to compare, but i would appreciate any estimations possible)

I think it's pretty safe to say two 8800m GTX cards in SLI will be more than enough to dominate the 9261's performance (for gaming, at least). In notebooks, the GPU is almost always the bottleneck.

    And then there's that.

The monstrous 9261/D901C will be king until some other notebook manufacturer decides to throw desktop processors into their laptops too.

    C90 has a desktop processor. :)

It will be the king of 15.4 inches at least until the alienware, though the c90 might get the 8800 also...

I really hope the sager np2090 gets a 8800. That would be awsome.

Falcon Northwest sells rebranded Clevos, last I checked.

Edit: Beat by Gophn. Get a life, man! :p

Okay... let me rephrase it then---the 9261 will be king until some other manufacturer decides to throw desktop processors into their 17" notebooks. :)
