If you could personally choose a game to be developed, what would you have created for you?
I had originally envisioned this thread as a 'What game would you like to see remade?' thread, but it doesn't have to be that if you've got some great idea for a game you'd like to see.
My list would be:
1) XCOM reloaded! I'd love to see the game come back but updated for current graphics/processors.
2) Civ 5. (I know, it's coming - this is the game that made me create this list, as I thought 'Wow, I got one wish; what else would I wish for?')
3) Fantasy General reloaded - see XCOM above. Always liked this style - or, I guess another that could go here would be
4) Master of Magic - wow, I had fun with this one! Loved the gameplay and customization for leaders, and would love to see a modern version.
5) Masters of Orion II. (Note I'm specifying MoO2 here!) Loved the game, and would love to see what a more modern version could entail.
So, what's on your wishlist?
-
1) Yeah, Xcom reloaded.
2) a Starship Troopers game done right, i.e., according to the book (power armor), not that ludicrous movie. Alternatively, I´d accept a remake of Terra Nova.
3) F19 Stealth Fighter II
4) Shogun: Total War II -
System Shock 3
Age of Empires IV
Rise of Nations II
Warcraft IV
Neverwinter Nights 3
Dungeon Siege III
The Elder Scrolls V
Total Annihilation II
Homeworld 3
Zoo Tycoon 3 !!!! FTW
SimCity 5 -
redrazor11 Formerly waterwizard11
Remake UT 99 HD (like serious sam HD)
A refreshed/3D version of Zelda:ALTTP -
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri II
Decent: Freespace 3
Decent 4
Freelancer 2
Starflight (the original)
Bladerunner 2
Independence War 3
Eve Online with planetside missions (if STO can do it...) -
AC2 without the DRM
-
I would have to say killzone on pc
-
My wish would be:
Make a game with excellent dialogue, voice acting with a great story that enraptures my imagination.
A ban on any contract association with intel, AMD or Nvidia. Make a game that can run any system regardless of a gamer's choice in hardware, as long as the hardware was DX10, DX11 compliant etc.
Also all PC games coded ground up for PC, not a craptastic console port. -
Starcraft 2 NOW
Diablo 3 NOW
/thread. -
A dream of mine would be a combination of oblivion with dragon age origins. A huge open world area like in elder scrools, and bioware doing their character and storyline job, voice acting and a huge list of side quests to make the game last at least 300 hours.
That, and a small taste of badur's gate in it, how's that?
I guess it sounds way to good to ever happen. -
I will return Final Fantasy series to its old glory days
With turn-base fighting systems
I will make a racing game for my favorite car, Nissan skyline GTR
It will include alllll the models and mods,...etc
That would be CoOoL -
SomeRandomDude Notebook Evangelist
I would release Splinter Cell Conviction NOW
-
Hmm i would love to see some MGS on pc
-
I really want a version of san andreas or at least a similar type of setting in a far less buggy and resource using version of the GTA4 engine.
-
1) An expanded, prettier, possibly multiplayer version of Escape Velocity
2) Sid Meyer's Railroads 2
3) A version of the webgame Intergalactics for my Droid
4) EV for my Droid
5) A proper successor to SimCity -
-
Ultima Online 2 or Asheron's Call 3.
-
Gears of war 2 on pc
UT4
Nox 2 -
-
More Crysis games, with better graphics.
-
HUGE second to Freespace 3! Freespace 2 is easily one of my favorite games, and THE best space flight sim ever made, period.
Also a second for Master of Magic (MoO2 was kinda done with Galactic Civilizations 2).
And Dungeon Keeper 3, and a remake of Aliens Vs Predator. Y'know, one that doesn't suck. -
1) A sequel to Duke Nukem 3D...maybe call it Duke Nukem Forever...
2) An addition to the Warlords turn-based games...
3) A sequel to Crimson Skies...
4) Freedom Force III...
5) And maybe an Aliens vs Predator vs Batman vs Terminator...(it all works if you make John Connor the alter-ego to Batman the 2nd)...
6) Hellgate: London, Space Siege, and/or Stormrise done right...
7) And a second to both X-Com and Terra Nova... -
I forgot about Dungeon Keeper, that's a good call, Histidine.

At any rate, all your ideas sound great (Freespace 3, Alpha Centauri II, the Oblivion/Dragon Age/Baldur's Gate combo) but what I would really like:
A Song of Ice and Fire:
or not even the actual storyline of the series, but the world adapted into a very, VERY sophisticated version of Mount and Blade, with actual character interaction, politics, emotional investment, and an adaptive storyline that is generated on the state of the realm (leaders being betrayed and killed, sons and heirs dying, informants working as double or triple agents, etc.)
All while preserving the open world feel and relative freedom of Mount and Blade. -
A decent Star Trek RPG game that combines Mass Effect, Bridge Commander and TNG: A Final Unity into one with puzzle solving missions and whatnot.

NBR should totally make a game. We've got lots of varied backgrounds here...some artists, some management, some programers, some designers, lots of gamers, a great demographic, and we all love computers. It could be an awesome project and we could all put our names on it.
What do you guys think? It would really promote the site! And It'd finally be a chance to get EXACTLY what we want out of a game. -
-
an MMOFPSRTS with large-scale battles that features a variety of equipment and vehicles and neither skimps on the FPS or RTS elements ("Battlefield Starcraft")
OR
an MMORPG a la Freelancer except with the 'MMO'-ness of EVE and a planet-side component. -
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Advent Rising trilogy, completed. That is all I ask for.

-
a game that doesn't suck
-

(1) Star Trek RPG series with a huge scope of the entire Star Trek universe that is free roaming in an entire universe of planets. I'm happy with single player only, but multiplayer would be fine as long as it doesn't compromise gameplay. I'm thinking something like Mass Effect + Freelancer.
(2) I've always been a big combat aircraft sim fan. I've trudged through to learn to be marginally effective in Falcon 4, Longbow 2, some sub and tank sims. I thought it would be awesome to have individual sims for each of these vehicles. But also have an online mode where each of these individual sims could link up into a virtual war. We're talking Falcon + Silent Hunter + Longbow + M1 Tank Platoon + ArmA. So not just soldier based warfare but realistic simulation warfare. We're talkin Operation Flashpoint on steroids. You can only pilot on type of vehicle or vehicles based on the simulation you have loaded (aircraft, tank, sub, chopper, soldier, etc). -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Hm, my game would contain:
1. The epic-ness of God of War
2. The pace of Uncharted 2
3. A story as deep and impressive as Bioshock (well except for the last boss battle).
4. An amazing soundtrack
5. Gordon Freeman
6. Andrea Lima & Megan Fox
7. Some pr0n
8. Amazing variety in action/consequence like Heavy Rain
9. No pointless DRM
10. A sweet pre-order deal from Steam

More platformers!
I mean, I like multiplayer games just as much as the next guy, but sometimes I want to go off on my own little adventure and enjoy that.
What was the last game that allowed me to do something like that?
Prince of Persia? Prototype?
Don't kill the platformers!

Complete and release Duke Nukem Forever lawl

The "Real" Fallout 3 !
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzYmQyHl2bc
Btw.............getting sick and tired of all the "over-the-shoulder" view games out there ! At least make them so you can zoom into FP perspective !
Playing Red Faction and the OTS view ruins what could have been an excellent game ! -
Also, I always thought an Underworld themed MMO would be pretty groovy..
Humans vs Lycans vs Vampires -
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
And you're right, Prototype isn't really a platformer, it's more of an open sandbox type game, but to me, those two things are the same. Moving from one area to another in order to complete objectives...
Mr. Mysterious -
- Diablo 3
- A proper modern Fallout. Fallout 3 was such a HUGE let down for me. A Fallout game, with modern graphics, the great witty dialogue of the original two, the tactical depth of Fallout Tactics, and the online gaming of FOnline (see my sig, yes there is a Fallout MMORPG). And with no subscription fees.
- Age of Empires IV
- XCOM franchise revived (how come noone managed to do this? It seems so easy...)
- Freelancer 2
- America's Army 3 properly optimized to run on my laptop like all other UE3 games
- Guild Wars 2
- Mount and Blade with a proper strategic element (the horseback combat is unparalleled though, check it out) -
I prefer the over-the-shoulder view, and really hate the FP perspective. I'll meet you half way, though - how about having that zoom function, so you can play as either? (Zoom out, third person over-the-shoulder, or you can zoom in to get a first person look?)
For me, in some frenetic first-person games, I can get nearly motion sick. Hving the over-the-shoulder look mitigates this a lot! -
-
I'd also like to add that the amount of FPS type games is WAY larger in contrast to the third person ones, and that I'm personally sick of all the FPS type play.
Indeed though, if a specific gaming style is desired, then adding the zooming function that allows you switching from third person to first person views would be acceptable. -

^Yes, the new PoP will feature Jake Gyllenhaal and suck magic carpet sweat.
-
The next System Shock 3 without all of the console-friendly gaming features.

Something that combines EVE Onlines vast game universe, STO's ship combat / ground combat
with the following attributes:
1. Everything starts out as unknown
2. Exploration means something, takes dedicated ships to cataloge new universe. Warships to take and hold or hunt other ships. Trade ships for commerce...etc
3. Knowledge can be lost and areas can go "dark" again and specifics can change in that time. (dynamic universe, so the internet walk-through kiddies can't spoil it)
3. PVP can happen anywhere
4. PVP ain't easy, skill involved
5. Customizable ships
6. Choice to have multiplayer on one ship. Security officers could fight against boarding actions. Or start boardng actions on other ships.
7. Could go on and on....
None of this will happen due to games being games. This probably wouldn't appeal to many people it would appear too difficult.
Just my dream.
So, if you could control game designers - what would your wish be?
