What is the performance difference between a GeForce Go 7600 and a GeForce Go 7600 GT? Can I in any way softmod my Go 7600 so that it functions at the level of the GT card?

its just a matter of what clock speeds they use.
they probably use differnt voltages so ataining desktop speeds may not be possible, its also possible that they use differnt RAM in the laptop compaired to desktop card so again may not be possible.
just stick with overclocking
edit: just googled a bit and the desktop varient has more pixel pipe lines as well, so there are also physical differnces -
Go 7600 GT- 12 pixel shaders, 5 vertex shaders
Go 7600 - 8 pixel shaders, 5 vertex shaders
In this situation, can I softmod the Go 7600? -
OK so I have made a slow progress. Uninstalled 174.32 Vista x64 drivers. Then using Rivatuner 2.09's NVStrap driver I checked both the boxes corresponding to enable hardware masked units and unlock professional capabilities.
Rebooted the laptop and the GPU became a GeForce 7650 GS. -

did it actually change anything? (check performance delta in games or 3dmark score or something)

The first fig. shows GPUZ running and showing it to be 7600GT. I did that by changing the hardware IDs and changing the pixel shaders to 12 from 8. But my gaming graphics score in Windows remains constant at 4.7,the same as GeForce Go 7600. I am afraid the disabled pixel shaders are not getting enabled,e.g Pixel shader 0 which remains disabled. Is there any other way, the card can actually give true performance of a 7600 GT? Any possibility of somehow enabling the shaders? -
That's pretty cool that you made it a 7600 GT. The last time I remember of all these modding things was when people were making thier x800 GTO's into x800 XT PE's ... and that was quite a while ago lol. Don't worry about that Windows score ... it's pretty much a BullS*** benchmarking program.

But the real problem is the card may not have fully activated into a GeForce 7600 GT. Even GPUZ shows the bandwidth to be only 12.2 Gb/s inplace of 18-20 Gb/s . Even the pixel shaders are shown as 8 instead of 12. I am confused now. Or have I missed something in Rivatuner???
