    Hello,

I'm looking for an application that eats up 'spare' CPU cycles.... Some games don't use CPU at 100% all the time and speedstep reacts to such thing. If the cpu load stays at 100% all the time.... speedstep will keep speed at maximum...

So where can I get such software ?

    Thanks..

You can just use RMclock (CPU utility) to keep your CPU on full speed all the time

Get notebook hardware control, you can change the clock to max or min easily.

RMClock : I still get random spikes with CPU Speed even with all Multiplers disabled (except maximum). Keeps switching between 1.1 and 2.2 GHz.
NHC : Dosen't Work in Vista SP1. It can't control CPU Speed.

    Thanks

Tried that already. Also, checking the correct P-States in the profile menu dosen't work so as checking Performance mode (and checking advanced settings) in the Vista Power options in order to make sure that CPU management keeps the CPU at 100%. Still dosen't work, I get like a zig-zag in the graph...

EDIT : I have a Dell XPS M1530... known for its incompability with RMClock...

I don't know if it's the same on Vista, but on XP you set it to "Always On". That is the only setting that keeps your processor at max speed.

    No such thiing in Vista.....

Remember I'm either looking for a program that
-Properly overrides speedstep on Dell XPS m1530 or
-Eats Spares CPU cycles to keep CPU Usage 100%

    Thanks

    I believe you missed something.

RMclock works fine for the whole XPS range. The reason its showing up as an unknown core is because of the newer revision.

It should look like this when you turn on maximal performance:

Follow the undervolting guide, just dont do the undervolting part.

    -Close RMclock.

-Make sure your using High Performance profile in Vista

-Set the minimum and maximum cpu power state to 100%

-Restart notebook and try rmclock again

-In the Maximal Performance subprofile, change the Target CPU usage to 5% > Apply

Mess around with the thermal monitor in Advanced CPU settings.

Tick TM1/2 and click Apply and try disabling them again. Just google around with these two

I did abit of searching and it seems to be a specific bug for the XPS range
