    1. For those of you that are running dual core, can you alt-tab out of bf2 easily and lets say open up IE?

    2. When you hit quit to exit bf2 does it take longer than just hitting alt + f4?

    3. What settings are you running at with 1gb of RAM?

    4. Are you noticing the frequent server crashes?

    5. Intel Duo Core Users: Do you set bf2 to use one CPU affinity?

    Thanks! :)

That has nothing to do with dualcore.
What takes time when alt-tabbing is a couple of things:
    - The GPU has to throw out all its BF2 data, and switch to 2d mode, load Windows data, and work on that.
    - The system memory has to store backups of certain GPU memory resources as they're about to be flushed. The game might need to release other resources as well, perform cleanup operations and so on.
    - While playing, most non-game related data has probably been pushed to the swap file, so it has to be loaded back in when alt-tabbing.

None of these tasks go faster with a dualcore cpu. (Task switching takes a couple of microseconds at the most, even with a singlecore CPU)

    1: Try it. :)
2: No. The same work has to be performed in both cases.

    1. For those of you that are running dual core, can you alt-tab out of bf2 easily and lets say open up IE?

I always alt+tab out of my games to check vent, kick / ban someone in BF2CC etc. etc. The KEY to alt + tabbing out is that you are running at your native rez for your monitor and the game. Makes it ALOT easier to alt + tab out. That and more than 2gb of memory always helps as well!

I just purchased an Athlon 64 FX-57 (single core) and have it running at 3.2ghz on water. Both my lappy and my desktop alt + tab out fine and keep up with doing whatever I need.

    2. When you hit quit to exit bf2 does it take longer than just hitting alt + f4?

I always just hit Esc and then quit. I have no lag etc.

    3. What settings are you running at with 1gb of RAM?

1600 x 1200 with forced 16xAA and AF. Max rez and 4gb of memory on my desktop. My laptop is limited to 1gb currently due to my budget, however if I had 2gb I could run at 1280x1024 with 4x aa and high settings. The limit is my memory and pagefile currently.
    4. Are you noticing the frequent server crashes?

    5. Intel Duo Core Users: Do you set bf2 to use one CPU affinity?

I do not set mine to affinity, I have kept it normal for use. I've heard to many problems about the patches and affinty settings that I didn't even monkey w/it.

    1. For those of you that are running dual core, can you alt-tab out of bf2 easily and lets say open up IE?

I alt-tab very easily on a single core proc, with my settings almost all the way up (at all the way up, it takes a bit to alt-tab)

    2. When you hit quit to exit bf2 does it take longer than just hitting alt + f4?

i think its about the same

    3. What settings are you running at with 1gb of RAM?

with 1gb ram and a 3.2ghz p4, i can put everything to the max

    4. Are you noticing the frequent server crashes?

    nope

    5. Intel Duo Core Users: Do you set bf2 to use one CPU affinity?

    1. I would have no issues doing this now, granted it takes a second to minimize the window. But Yes this is very easy.

    3. I use default settings as I am usually using 1-1.3gb of ram and I dopnt awant to thrash more then I already do. when I get 2gb Ill crank everything to maximum.
