Hey fellow NBR members. I usually like to play FPS, RPG, and an occasional RTS, but I have been in an itch lately to get back into a good MMO (have been through a few a while back).

But here's the thing; I want an MMO that doesn't have a monthly subscription, and if at all possible, a completely free MMO.

I have heard good things about Maple Story, Silk Road, and Fly FF.

Can anyone give me some suggestions on which ones I should be looking to play? I really can get into any fantasy world so that doesn't matter as much. I am just looking to find an MMO that has a good leveling and battling system that will keep me entertained for quite a while. :)

Thanks for any help you can spare!

What MMOs have you played in the past that you enjoy? If you like a World of Warcraft style of experience I would go with Silkroad or even Rappelz ( I prefer Rappelz ), but as with most free games they are a grind. If you are more of a PvP type of player you should check out ArchLord which is now free, or even Shadowbane. Shadowbane has player cities and siege weapons and the like but you rarely see people nowadays until you get to level cap which only takes a week or two.

Well, I've played the original Guild Wars, and Lord of the Rings Online mainly. I did try a WOW trial but didn't want to pay to continue my account.

What is Shadowbane like?? And can you not play with level capped people until you reach level cap or something?

Most people tend to stick to the higher level areas because the population is low now. I would suggest looking into Rappelz and ArchLord.
