I wanted to know the importance of these things to the graphics cards:
Pipelines, Core Speed, Shader Speed, Memory Speed, as I've been reading some articles with these specs of some of the graphics cards and wanted to know their impact so I can decide which 1 to get.

Notebookcheck gets a lot of bad press on these boards, but with that grain of salt (with which it must be taken, I agree), it is the single most useful place to compare GPUs. They are the only site that I know of to compile such an exhaustive list. Chaz's list does not include the most recent cards (260, 280, etc.) and does not supply numbers.
I agree that the numbers on notebookcheck aren't perfect, but they are the best around. What you can't trust, however, is their ranking (order listed), which sometimes seems pretty random. -
