On certain maps, such as Bloodstrike, if someone is beyond a certain distance from me, they get lost in a haze/mist and I can't see them even though they can see me. Note it only happens on certain maps. I feel as if the draw distance is maxed out on certain maps where they get lost in a haze/mist and become invisible to me even though they can still see me.

    We call it hacks ;)

Though you might wanna tweak your gfx settings (from the ~ console). Maybe even change your drivers.

But I didn't have this problem with my last laptop which had an ATI Mobility Radeon 9600. I never used any hacks. Even my bro who has a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 doesn't have this problem. Only me. :(

Have a look. The HD 2600 screens seem to have this haze to them after a certain distance and it gets real hard to see the character. I'm comparing a HD 2600 to a Go 7400.

on the first screenshot, it looks like the color of the wall and the color of the character are the same, and its dark, making it even harder to see. Try looking at a place that has more light or try turning up the gamma in the video settings.

Thats not suppose to happen. I play Source all the time and experienced this only with my stock drivers. Once they were updated, the haze dissapeared.

I am not able to really tell the difference between the screenshots. You might not be hacking...but whoever you are playing against might be aimboting (a type of hack). If you notice it is the same person who keeps shooting you then it could be a hacker. Check his score too. That is an easy way to tell. 50 kills and 0 deaths is a hacker. LOL

I kind of have a problem with CSS too. Its not a graphics problem but I thought I might as well ask in this thread anyway. I was trying to get back into CSS after a long absence but I found that whenever I try to connect to a server, it shows a low ping in the servers list but when I try to connect it opens up the server info tab and the ping jumps to 1000 - 2000 and I cant connect to any server. It isnt my net connection as I tried at a friends place too and the same thing happened.
    Any suggestions?

that happens to me too. I think its just a problem with the servers. I usually just go through about 20 servers till I findone that connects right away.

Could be a server side setting causing fog/haze to make things harder. I think it to stop annoying snipers or something.
