just looking for a good mic or mic+earpiece.
hopefully steam will get its act together and allow us to separate the voice-chat audio from the game audio.

PS2 headsets have always worked well for me. Logitech I think.

You mean the wireless one-ear design? Pretty much any Bluetooth headset will work, if you have either an internal Bluetooth card or USB Bluetooth dongle. Plantronics is reputed to make some pretty good ones, although I've only had experience with their stereo headsets.

Seriously man, not hating on microsoft but that was the worst thing they ever made, I went through like 7 for the 2 years I had my 360. Horrible headset. Check turtle beach. -

ok, just trying to be clear. i am not looking for something of xbox headset quality.
just trying to explain the formfactor in few words.
looking for a simple, wireless, one ear headset. possibly without a speaker at all (just the mic) -
