Max Payne was my favorite game and im trying to find something like it. I like everything about the game and the story line was amazing.
Im looking for something similar, older or newer, doesnt matter.

Play Max Payne 2. Nude code for the girl character, LOL.

What is it you liked most about the game? If it's the story, there's lots of games out there with great stories but they're not necessarily 3rd person with "bullet time". If it's the super slo-mo bullet time feature, there's many games out there that have incorporated this effect as well, but their stories probably aren't as good. If you're looking for the whole package then you can (for the most part) give up and wait for MP3...
Other games with "Bullet Time":
Chaser
F.E.A.R.
Jedi Knight II: Outcast
Jedi Academy
Enter The Matrix
Matrix: Path of Neo
My all time favorite game, which also happens to incorporate a form of Bullet Time and has a terrific story to boot would be Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. You can find it for less than $20 now in the bargain bin.
If you decide to check it out, make sure to install both the official patches and the most recent user community patch (v3.2) -

Ive beaten chaser, which was pretty good, but could have been a bit better. Hitman was another good one and i liked it better than chaser.
Im not really into the monster'ish junk my son is into. And i dont like the long drawn out tedious war'ish games he plays either.
Vietcong is another favorite of mine.
Its been a long time since most of these favorites of mine were created and i just havent heard of anything worthy the cost........yet -
ive heard about this one other game: Alan Wake??

From the faq,
GENERAL QUESTIONS
What platforms will Alan Wake be available on?
Alan Wake is currently confirmed for release on the Windows Vista for PC and the Xbox 360.
Is Alan Wake exlusive to Windows Vista? If so why?
Petri Järvilehto had this to say on the official Alan Wake forums (18/05/06):
“I’ll confirm that Alan Wake is Vista and 360 exclusive. I know some people have reacted strongly to that, but for us this was one of the key decisions that will allow us to create the best possible game.
We’ve locked this down a while ago, and being able to focus on fewer platforms means that the game is going to kick more ass than ever before. By going with Vista, we don’t have to compromise everything to the lowest common PC denominator and since we’re not doing a PS3 version we can go all out with PC and 360 multithreading, HDR rendering etc. This focus benefits the tech and game design immensely.
We’re really sorry if some end up missing the game because of our platform choice, but in the end of the day we *must* base our decisions on what will let us create the best possible game. That’s just how Remedy as a team works: we’re passionate about creating something unique. Alan Wake is still our IP and we drive the creative control, but working with Microsoft gives us unprecedented levels of development support, testing resources and so on.
But… as they say, the proof is in the pudding. You guys are going to be the best judges on whether the calls we’ve made have been the right ones. We haven’t really shown anything on what we’ve been up to in the past year. Once we do, it’ll be up to you to see whether our work has been worthwhile.” -
WOW that game is not going to work on my system! Talk about realism!

I really liked Chaser, but I never beat it. on level 24 or 25 my weapon ammo started dissaperaing and half way through the level I had no ammo. but it was still a great game.

Would alan wake run on my desktop? e6400, 8800gtx, 2 gigs ram?
What about my laptop? t5600, 1.5 gigs ram, x1800?
-
About Max Payne and similar games,I heard something about game called Drake, and as I watch a few screenshots,it seems that is very similar to Max Payne, but with worse story than MP,I suppose. -
8800 GTX? why do even need to ask if something runs on that? lol
-
But the selection of weapons in the game was fairly cool. Any game that includes AKR's (AK-74U) in the arsenal is alright in my book. -
MP & MP2 were awesome - I also enjoy F.E.A.R. which is the closest I have found / played, but it is not 3rd person, you can slow down time but not dodge -
-
I can go ahead and throw another vote in for F.E.A.R. I barely started the game myself but it's already shaping up quite nicely. Max Paynes 1&2 are a couple of my favorite PC games ever.
As an aside, when it comes to a PC FPS, even though it has no slow-motion, I think my all-time favorite is Half-Life 2. I'm looking forward to finally playing Episode 1 -
Max Payne screwed with my mind... That dream sequence with the baby crying seriously damaged my brain, I may never recover.

Ive beat FEAR. It was a pretty dang cool game, but i just dont get some of the story line. Ive actualy reinstalled it to try on the new system. My kids yell at me when i have it on and they can hear it. Once in a while ill get a chill going up my back myself, but not from audio.
The blood trail while screaming baby is the worst part of MP. The maz was pretty bad too, but atleast i didnt get brain washed.
Half life is the types my son likes to play. Im not really into the unrealistic weapons and monster'ish stuff. Blasting a ghool with a magic fireball and watching him melt to the floor is just not my thing.
Ill have to look up Drake for the time being! Thanks folks
Something like Max Payne
