Hi, im interested in getting a laptop for uni aswell as a bit of gaming. I found the Sony Vaio F series and it took my interest, what games would the spec below be able to play. Ideally i would like to play L4D/L4D 2 and maybe COD MW 2 if possible. The 330m GT was the best card offered on this model, so i hope its good.

What games could i play reasonable well with this?

    Processor: Intel® CoreTM i5 Processor -520M (2.40 GHz) with 3 MB L2/L3 Cache
Operating system: Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium
    Finishes: Black
Hard drive: 320 GB Serial ATA (5400 rpm)
    Memory: 2 GB 1066MHz DDR3-SDRAM
    Optical Drive: DVD disc drive
Display: 41.6 cm LCD, 1920x1080+ webcam
    Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 330M 1GB

I can upgrade the RAM and HDD later on if needed.

    Thanks

I have the same model. It's a mid-range card that is easily overclocked (if that interests you). I can play L4D2 at native resolution with medium/high settings.

    Thanks for the reply,

So this would be a faily ok laptop to play games on then?

The spec above is £ 819.00 inc. VAT

But there is another one that costs £ 1,029.01 inc. VAT

    Processor: Intel® Core(TM) i7 Processor i7-720QM (Quad core) (1.60 - 2.80 GHz) with 6 MB L2/L3 Cache
Operating system: Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium
    Finishes: Premium Black
Hard drive: 320 GB Serial ATA (5400 rpm)
    Memory: 4 GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM
    Optical Drive: DVD disc drive
Display: 41.6 cm LCD, 1920x1080, webcam
    Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 330M 1GB

Is it worth spending the extra money for the better processor (bearing in mind that a HDD and RAM upgrade could be done to the cheaper one) or is it not worth it?

This laptop should play games but ur not going to max them... if ur willing to wait a while , there is a great laptop comming this month... ASUS G73... comes with core i7 quad core , ATI 5870 , which is fastest mobile GPU, 8GB RAM , full HD 17 inch screen and Blue ray for $1600 USD... should be 1-1.2K pounds.... if ur willing to wait , u'll get the bargain of the century... u could max out all games... GT330M is good but not as good... but if u really want the sony , well it shouldm play games on full HD res but might have problems with more demanding games like crysis or GTA... should have no problems at all with 5870 which should allow u to play any game at max settings... somemore G73 has Directx11 while the GT330M is of old directx10.1... ur choice really...

That laptop sound good, but i don't really want to spend more than £1000 on a laptop, also i don't want a 17" screen as its too big. I have found that Asus gaming laptops are quire hard to find in the UK, i have come across http://www.asuslaptop.co.uk but thats it. I will probably end up wating a bit longer for something else to come along if the 330m gt isn't that great.
