Hello, ive as described in the title a Sony Vaio VGN-FS285b notebook. Last two days im working on the laptop trying to install games.
After installing a game, for example, battlefield 2 or another game, it doesnt open at all, i cant play any games at this laptop. I think it is because of the graphic card(intel915GM...) and ram memory(512mb) of the laptop.
If it is because of this, is it then possible for me to put a new graphic card and ram into my laptop(if yes how do i do this)? And if there is another solution, can someone help me with this?

If you have WinXP 1GB is a must, if you have Vista I'd say 2GB would be best. Generally speaking, there's no room in a laptop to put a dedicated graphic card in a laptop with integrated graphics. It's just the way the laptops are designed.
If you're using XP you might still be able to play games if you have more RAM, but it'd have to be on lower settings. As far as I know, Vista is entirely different. Even if you installed more RAM, the graphics power would not be enough.
Unfortunately, you really need to buy a laptop with a dedicated graphic card *already* installed. Anything else makes it almost impossible to play any sort of fun game. -
i have tried both xp and vista, and both are same result. Is there something like an extern graphic card and ram, you can put on the laptop?

NO!!! You can't upgrade your GPU and there aren't any external GPU's. You're out of luck. Play battlefield on a different computer. For the love-of-god read the stickies.

Wth is your problem, if you dont like it, DONT REPLY, you see im new in the forum!!!!

if you have 7 or 14 days of return left RETURN IT.
that laptop suits for internet word processing and dvd not hd-dvd.
basically a lightweigh laptop which was designed to specific job be mobile and have long battery life. if u want gaming you got to either go with higher weight / bigger screen and lower battery life.
For under 500$ you can get a very sturdy and gaming capable desktop so you may consider that if you want games and cant return the lappy. otherwise invest on a 1200$ laptop to game on. -
I already have a good gaming desktop computer, i need the laptop for outside house(college etc.).

Like it's been stated, GPU's not upgradeable. If you're planning to game on the current notebook you have, I'd suggest just maxing out your RAM; other than that, there's nothing much you can do for your current notebook. Upgrading your CPU up to the processor the chipset can handle - at most - might help a bit, but a lot of good games these days are more GPU dependent.
If not, then look for a notebook with a graphics card that's mid-range or up, as they're listed in the link from the sticky: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=39568
Hope this helps a bit.
