Hi, I just got my Grandfathers Sony Vaio VGN-N130G for my birthday and wanted to see if I could upgrade it so I could play some of the current games. It has a good 2gb ram and only a 1.6ghz intel core duo processor. The thing that kills me though is the video card, it seems that Sony has the worst customer support in the world so I decided to ask you guys, is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 removable? I'm not too computer savy and I keep hearing the word integrated so I want to find out before I attempt any type of switch.
Thanks

No, if you start out with integrate graphics such as the GMA950, you won't be able to put a dedicated GPU in.

Not upgradeable.

that really sucks, guess I have to keep saving up my pennies

Yeah, I have the 950 and I was able to go as far as Command and Conquer 3 on medium settings and F.E.A.R......All I did with FEAR was....just run it....play it for 2 mins then it crashes.
So basically, if you want to be able to play games, get a new laptop or buy a console. -
You might consider the asus XG station if it ever comes out...

The reason why it's called "integrated" is because it's integrated onto the motherboard. The northbridge of the motherboard has a graphics "card" embedded within it. Unfortunately, since integrated cards are soldered onto the motherboard, they aren't removable
