didn't i answer your question already?

Most people on this thread say it does make a difference to sound output from onboard speakers.
-
would you please show me? I definitely skipped their posts.
-
Well it doesn't ... but even if it did it couldn't by much because most on board laptop speakers are crap anyways. The reason I think I am going to end up buying this sound card is because I have these
-
After rereading the thread I suppose most people is stretching it a bit, but pages 2 and 3 have users saying the sound quality is much better than the default integrated sound card, if the hardware rendering sound improves it seems logical to conclude that sound from the onboard speakers will also improve.
I could be wrong about the above logic though. -
the xfi notebook, although it is not HARDWARE, and does not support DTS/AC3, BUT it is one of the better cards.
the entire xfi soundcard line has been under a cloak of HORRIBLE driver development and support. Look at the creative forums, I've never seen so many people complain, and rightfully so.
i got the audio notebook for gaming, and through the stock speakers, it obviously dosent sound great. but when you put on a nice pair of headphones, it turns gaming into a whole new thing. im anxious to try a 5.1 setup, but for some reason, creative decided to add a seprate docking module so you can hook up 5.1/7.1 speaker setups, talk about cash grab.
every option in the console works for me except the playback through speakers and volume control. theress modded drivers for the x-fi line out there that target all the issues creative dosent want to seem to fix. funny thing is, theres no modded driver for the xtreme audio notebook. i figure its the only xfi that isnt completely worthless with thier drivers. A couple other problems i do face is crashes/hangups one in a while and a hibernation issue. if i leave my card plugged in the expresscard slot and my comp hibernates, my whole comp freezes.
its the best choice for notebook right now, hands down. dont look into the xfi 5.1 usb surround. it shoots your cpu usage up to 90 when using it, lots of people confirmed this. -
That sounds as horrible as my Xi-fi fatality card for my desktop, MAJOR driver issues. But the sounds still sounds so nice, you kind of take it all in with an ulcer.
Will this notebook Xi-fi card postively effect my mkv/h.264 video-playback? Specifically the modern hi-def recordings fansubbers have become custom to using.
If so, will that positive effect be better for stereo or 5.1; would I be better off buying UE triple-fi earphones; or a good 5.1 setup. -
I order one when I ordered my 1520 last july. There is a hardly noticable increase in sound quality when connected to external speakers. I sold the thing quickly, deff not worth the $75 or what ever dell was charging. Dont waste your money guys its not worth it.

Nirvana, I tested both the Sager onboard sound and the XPS, and with speakers or headsets, the xi-fi blows them out of the water.
It`s like the 5th time I said that, pay attention
-
Where is the best place to buy this card?
-
Wherever you find it cheapest
-
i think i know how it sounds, I have both audigy 2 and Xmod. i am looking for something better as i heard x-fi express and Xmod are essentially the same in terms of sound quality.
-
My onboard sound (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC) options says it can reach 24-bit and 192kHz for sound quality. The review linked on the first page compares the Xi-FI with an Onboard that can only reach 96kHz; so will the Xi-Fi be any much better than this newer generation onboard?
Will all the secondary software equalization software make the main difference in the end?
-
I got the same card for my inspiron 1720 and the sound still wasn't that good. Maybe it's just because the speakers are placed under the laptop so the sound will never be good regardless of what is in it. I would recommend getting some nice speakers for a laptop if you want a really clean sound. Bose speakers ftw!
-
@Infoseeker, interesting found. I will try that with my B&O and UE earphones.
-
If you guys didn't know already, theres no x-fi chip in there. all the x-fi functions are emulated through software
-
Then is there a single-license software copy we can use than a bulk expansion? atleast for stereo.
-
no x-fi chip doesn't necessarily means no hardware rendering. But I agree this card is mostly software stuff tho.
-
I got my soundcard for my laptop few months ago.
Creative 5.1 Surround X-Fi USB. Fair good for the price and the sound qualities. I like it except the surround xpand function doesn't work on front pairs....
I would rather recommend the USB over the notebook since u need accecory for 5.1 sound and USB can be used on both notebook and desktop. -
I usually don't like the whole USB-interface for these kinds of things. I still feel traumatized from USB-tv tuners. xD
Actually usb-sound cards are fine, but I don't want the extra processing they require. -
I'm getting a new laptop soon and as i want to use it for music creation/recording purposes I was intending on gettin the Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook. However I was interested in the new Sony FW series but I have notice that it has an Express /34 not the /54 that the X-fi needs! Is there anyway around this? Or should I look at other laptops? Dell Studio or HP Dv5t have /54.
-
If you don't have a /54 slot the card will just not fit. It's as simple as that. Pick the card with the better specs if you're intent on the sound card.
-
I am looking for some decent sound card to use with my FL Studio, but apparently X-Fi Notebook does not come with aa ASIO driver to be used in various DAWs. Perhaps you (and I) might want to consider some other USB solutions that do come with ASIO drivers.
