I have a Dell XPS M1210. When I played America's Army (First game to put in), I relized the sound would skip/pause/scramble every few seconds. Thought it had to do with the game. Then I added the Battlefield 2142 Demo and the same thing.

I can't figure out the problem. Sound drivers?

I play AA alot and I have a similar problem, when starting up the game a wierd buzzing sound comes out of the sound card, when I quit the game the buzzing sound disapperas... I usually solve this by going to Device Manager and uninstall/reinstal SigmaTel High defenition sound CODEC

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the sigmatel drivers. No luck.

I don't need that creative stuff either right? audigy advanced mb disk? I just took all that stuff out except the sigmatel drivers.

It's a sound I hear constantly every few seconds in AA and B2142. Very anoying.

Do videos and music play properly? It might be a DirectX problem; try reinstalling that.

Nope, only have a problem in games. DVD's and CD's work fine.

    Okay, I figured out something.

This problem only effects downloaded games. I can't figure it out. Both Americas Army and the BF 2142 Demo have this problem. I installed HW2 and it runs fine. So does OFP.

Another odd thing is. It effects the menu music and in game sound in AA. In BF 2142 Demo, the sound during the intro movies plays fine, the problem is the in game sound.

Anyone has this problem with downloaded games? A skipping sound every 3 seconds.

If all your other games work fine besides those few, then it is most likely a problem with the game and not the computer/sound card. Another thing is, you're running the BF2142 demo, there could simply be an issue with that.

Try switching to a different sound driver; an older one might be more stable.
