I ve noticed We Often Ignore Soundcards & focus only on Graphics...
coming from Comptetitive Fps games i depend more on Soundcard for Enemy's position..
anyway a little info. for Gamers stuck with pathetic integrated sound..
I saw this new little $29 thingy called Creative Soundblaster Play!..
Its an inexpensive USB Soundcard but some features are cool for gamers.
Its the size of a thumbdrive & has EAX HD built into it for Gaming.. Now EAX is available in lot of games these days...so this cheaply priced card is a good buy..i ll be trying it out.
Good solution for Laptop gamers..
Btw.. these days i am using XMOD.

Eh. My intergrated sound works just fine, especially with realteks new software.

Mine works just fine too. Guess we aren't all "competitive gamers".

Seriously, Integrated Audio is the worst form of audio that money can buy...
u gotta try a Dedicated soundcard..if not Creative then any other brand.
The Gunshots sound so realistic -
I am an audio engineer/musician. I know what "good audio" sounds like, trust me. I just don't see a point in using one for my notebook right now. I don't order things online, either. So if a store carried one, I would probably pick it up.

Creative's USB and express slot sollutions blow the onboard sound right in the water, make no mistake about that.

I used to have a Sound Blaster Live USB that I bought at CompUSA that sounded fantastic. It went out, and when it did, I haven't bought another one. If Best Buy, Fry's, etc. would carry them, I would buy one again.
I'm not arguing the quality... of course the on-board audio isn't fantastic. But I'm not dying for that "perfect sound" when gaming. -
I have the creative X-fi Platinum in my desktop, so I know what a good dedicated card can do. Its just not worth it to get one for my laptop.

This must be one of those things you have to experience for yourself. My integrated speakers aren't good, but I find using my headphones with the integrated sound card adequate.
I'm a bit of an audiophile. -
