I'm having a frusturating problem with Day of Defeat Source and CS S. Both games seem to cap their frames per second, DoD at 30 and CS S at 60. I can't figure out why... I have disabled Vsync both in-game and in my nvidia menu, I have used the fpsmax 300 command, I have tried changing the graphics settings from the maximum to the minimum and back yet I still get both games locked at those 2 frame rates. Anyone know of any other menu commands that I can type in? CS is perfectly playable at 60 fps, but 30 fps in DoD just doesn't cut it. I have a gateway notebook with a 7900GS card, 2 gigs of ram, and a T7200 core 2 duo processor.

    Try newer drivers from Laptopvideo2go.com

If Vsync isn't on and you've already toggled the console command, I cannot think of a single reason you are getting throttled FPS unless you have Nvidia Control Panel set with Vsync or your card simply isn't capable of rendering faster. And I sincerely believe your card can do more than 30FPS.

Unfortunately none of the latest nvidia drivers work on my laptop, when installing it tells me appropriate hardware cannot be found and it aborts intstallation, and of course the most recent drivers released by gateway are from over a year ago. It must be a config setting in source, though, because everything else runs fine... anyone know of a link to a page that explains all the console commands? I've searched and had no good luck

try to add a few settings to your config files.

    I'd recommend
    fps_max 100
    fps_modem 100

see if that helps, good luck.

    Yeah...that might be the case.

    OORRRR....

You aren't reading the installation instructions. You must download the modded inf file preferably use the 'Have Disk' method.
