    Speaking purely of Mobile GPU's...Nvidia Series 9000 versus ATI 4000 series Who is more reliable? pros/Cons of each?

    Been a long time since iv'e found myself even considering an ATI card since the horror i had with my X1700M. That being said with Nvidias poor handling of the 8000 series mess...I'm thinking about it. As a whole which series has been proven to be more reliable thus far? Nvidia 9000 series or ATI 4000 series?

    Nvidia's issue with the 8M series was mainly with the faulty 8400M and 8600M, the 8700M/8800M were pretty much unaffected.

    In any case, ATI and Nvidia are both very comparable in stability and performance with the right drivers of course.

    Nvidia has great driver support since the official ones are always getting modified and optimized. ATI has some driver support but not as a large scale as Nvidia's.

    ATI has come to show that their videocards are more high performing without such a high price premium.

    You shouldn't lose with either choice... just make sure you are watching the temps and cleaning out the vents regularly.

    Has ATI ...STILL not allowed for the inclusion of mobile drivers into the basic catalyst? I'm really not a fan of third party and or modded drivers.

    Nope, ATI has yet to develop full fledged mobile drivers for their GPUs last I checked.

    Meh...Thanks for that. Had to use third party with my X1700 and no matter where i got them from it created problems En masse. I think that made my decision in itself till ATI offers official drivers.

    Just out of curiosity, what problems did you have with the x1700? I have the same card and i've been running catalysts modified with the driverheaven mobility modder and had no probelms whatsoever.
