Is there a program that will show the real specs for the Go 7200 in my dv6400?

Sandra tells me nothing, and 3DMark06 says my card has a 22.6MHz memory clock.

does your go 7200 runs hot? I am getting a DV2000 with go 7200 and I'd like it to stay cool.

Make sure when you run 3dmark06 you're plugged into AC power, and your power management settings are set to Always On, or Max Performance, or similar.

You can also download RivaTuner to look at the specs of your GPU.

Not sure, as I've never monitored the gpu temp with anything (only cpu). The laptop itself feels warmer than my previous generation V5201, but it is also thinner (less space=more heat). I imagine this effect would be amplified on the smaller DV2000.

I guess that was my first mistake. I had the power setting on Balanced instead of High Performance. I'll rerun it again later on the new setting to see if it changes anything.

    Thanks, I'll give it a try! :)

Update: Both RivaTuner and nTune confirm that the memory clock is 700MHz (effective).

My question reguarding RivaTuner: What does the "reference clock" of 27MHz mean?

Just a total guess. I dont know how the clocks are dervied in these GPU's but typically the frequencies are dervied from a reference crystal which are usually running at a lower frequency. The core clocks are usually derived using a multiplier. So, Nvidia might be using a similar device to derive their core clock speeds.

Ah, I wonder if that is what 3DMark06 was picking up and I was misinterpreting it....................
