Anyone looking forward to Tom Clancy's next Splinter Cell?
    Here's a video preview:
    http://splintercell.us.ubi.com/conviction/video/video.php

I feel it's going to be horrible - I think that it's more of an action rather than stealth game. Starting at Chaos Theory, action has been taking over the role of stealth. Chaos Theory had a good balance of action and stealth, Double Agent (which I'm currently playing, not yet finished) is more action than stealth in a lot of missions (on the other hand, it's also only stealth no action in JBA HQ missions).

    Anyone thoughts?

Living in the DC area, I do have to give them credit for doing a pretty good job of modeling the physical environment at least - looks pretty authentic.

It looks like they are really focusing on graphics are destructible environments, which, in my book, could break the game if they take away from the stealth tactics that have been the games trademark. My prediction: this game will be decent, nothing groundbreaking that sets it above other games. After it performs less than stellar in the markets, maybe they will release a back to basics original Splinter Cell game.

There is almost no stealth tactics in that video preview. It's just run up and shoot/punch all the guards. Or sneak up from behind and grab the guards. There doesn't seem to be a way to sneak past the guards or find an alternate route or anything of that sort. But then again, maybe what's shown in the video is just a horrible level in an awesome game?

yeah.... it looks more like a tech demo showing off what they can do with crowds and physics. It seems like the're going in the direction of the Bourne movie series, which wasn't focused on stealth very much at all.

Haha yes! Bourne movies, that's probably were they got the inspiration. Didn't the team also say that Double Agent was also inspired by some movie in the trailer on IGN?

I've been looking forward to this game for about 8 months now. I haven't played Splinter Cell since the original on the XBOX, but I hope to catch up eventually! It looks very great. Love modern realistic games!
