So is anyone else excited about this game coming out next month? I have played all the splinters cells and IMO chaos theory was the best multiplayer game I ever played. I just dont know wether to get it for PC or Xbox. What are your guys feelings on this upcoming title and the differences between the two versions?

I was really looking forward to this game for PC. Then I found out it would have the same DRM as AC2. Nuff said.
-
Yup... Not supporting that crap
-
Here's a helpful link that discusses the PC version.

.... But the whole having to be connected to the internet thing is very irritating, so maybe I wont

Just like AC2, this is a game that I've been excited for for a long time, but won't be purchasing due to the overly-restrictive DRM.
Also, the PC version is a port from the 360, which is the main market for this game (according to Ubisoft). In light of that and the DRM, I would probably get it for the 360. -
Same here- loved previous ones, but won't buy this one due to DRM.
-
I've only played one Ubisoft game ever... Anon 1404 and I'm no planning to play any other.
-
I was originally going to get this at launch, but based on the fact the the last few Ubisoft PC games haven't been nearly as good as their older stuff and fact that I already have a stack of games to play means I'll pass.
The DRM doesn't bother me, but I agree on being put off about their whole "OMG WE <3 XBOX 360" attitude while tbe PC gamers get shafted. No demo, none of the previews I've seen have focused on the PC version and the 360 version gets released earlier (set in stone huh?) while the PC gets pushed back.
I hate to see good franchises like this get shoved around on the PC, but I'll wait for it to get cheaper after release since they're not focusing on the PC it'll probably be half off within a few months. -
I love all the Splinter Cell games. One of my favorite all time series. But like others, I will not buy due to the DRM. Sorry. I won't buy for PC or 360.
-
This game is a day one purchase for me even with the horrid DRM
...
I have not had any issues with Assassins Creed yet either but i do understand everyones hatred for Ubisoft's decision to need a constant connection...
If the games ever do get cracked then maybe UBI will release patches to play the games offline ... There are some rare occasions where i wont have a connection to the internet
and i know i would be upset if i could not play the game of my choosing because of it but for now im not going to lose sleep over it ... -
Refusing to buy because of the DRM. I will not buy any game that comes with an expiration date (what if I want to re-play it 10 years from now for nostalgia's sake?), which this and AC2 will clearly have when Ubi takes the servers offline. I'm guessing it'll be right around the time AC3 or the next Splinter Cell comes out.
-
Same as previous. Actually I'm gonna boycott all Ubisoft games from now on.
And this is just 'cos they cause pain in the for legit customers, thinking they can create something uncrackable. BS. -
it's not even splinter cell any more. stealth elements are all but gone.
-
As everyone said, DRM is going to make me stay away from this one.
-
I would love to buy this game I am big fan of all the SC series, but DRM in this game has made me changed my mind and almost 20 other colleges of mine as well.
-
-
I tried the demo of this on the 360, and well... I'm not so sure about it anymore. Where's the stealth? Why do I have to kill everyone in my path? Why is it always nothing but kill, kill, kill? I don't want to kill everyone, only if necessary. I find that to be the most fun thing to do; go through a level without killing anyone at all. Where is my option to sneak around people, use sticky cameras as fun little distractions, etc? The stealth is totally gone. It's just Gears of Splinter Cell. I need to wait for several reviews before I even consider getting this at all.
-
If it's just a run and gun corridor shooter, forget it. There's no point even without DRM.
At best, I may rent it on the Xbox 360. -
I have purchased lots of new PC games lately, most from Steam with my last purchase being Just Cause 2. I have spent way too much but couldn't resist the sales and the convenience i.e I have a reasonably fast internet connection and even downloading an 8GB PC game doesn't take that long.
I was interested in adding Splinter Cell Conviction to my list but due to the ridiculous DRM that they have used, I will not be making a purchase anymore. That goes for any, and every single other title that decides to use the same type of DRM period. The crackers have figured out a way to bypass this sort of DRM by using redirection and editing the Windows Host files amongst other things so only the paying customer will be inconvenienced in the end. -
I really wish Steam would take a stance on this. Steam has proven themselves and have a great DRM of their own. I'm not satisfied with certain elements of their services, but it works quite well overall.
Steam should just say either eliminate their silly DRM or they won't sell it. It would satisfy their customers and probably increase sales in the long run. -
Yeah thats wishful thinking but they want the money so we know that wont happen....
Id rather have it through Steam then UBI coming up with there own download service that is dead in minutes with everyone downloading from it or attacking it ...
I wish i had the strength to say no to these titles like Assassins Creed 2 and Splinter Cell and i could just buy them for the 360 instead and call it a day but i love my eye candy from the PC ....
I hope this DRM dies off sooner rather then later for everyones sake though... I know Ubi thinks they are curbing piracy but every single thread i read about both these games is almost always negative from potential buyers who refuse to give into the DRM, so hopefully they actually read some of these comments sprawled across the web and realize they are only hurting themselves in the long run... Doubtful but one can hope...
I played the Demo on the 360 and its a completely different take on Splinter Cell thats for sure but im not going to base my whole opinion on just a Demo .... -
I read somewhere here that Steam in the UK dumped Ubi's games for this and several other reasons. So maybe.
-
-
I think Steam has the clout to do that too. But I guess we can only sit here and hope, because none of us have any influence anyhow. Too bad customers don't have a say anymore.
-
Regardless of whether you have a very good connection and have 24/7 access to the internet or not, absolutely nothing beats making the choice for yourself (like an adult paying customer) and choosing when, if, how and whether you play online or offline. Some say that people have only made a fuss about this new DRM because they can't pirate it but all I have to say to that is CNC4 -
Well, maybe in six months and they drop the DRM, price is down to $20, and they make more money off the reduced price no DRM game, then maybe that'll send a message.
