This is s huge, a Square-Enix JRPG hitting Steam. Are they preparing me for the Steam release of Final Fantasy XIII? My mind is telling me no, but my body is telling me yes!
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
i had a look at this and it doesnt seem that great, the battle system didnt look too good,
will their be a demo for it? if only they would remake and release the classic 3 Final Fantasy games: 7, 10 and 12
if only they would release Final Fantasy XIII on PC - dont see it happening though -
Heard bad things about it on the 360 system but heck I'll certainly welcome Japanese developers to Steam.

The original game lagged as it was so massive, i played it only at a friends house so i can only say what i saw there. Looked kind of cool and had a neat concept, overall not too bad but hey i wont argue with this on steam still.
-

Lol same time but yeah thats what i was saying
-
-
I wonder if the "problem" could be fixed by tweaking the config and lets hope its not a bad port... to make things worst.
-
It's a great port. If you want to know how it'll run on your system, just download the benchmark.
Mine averaged 60.92 fps @ 1680x1050. Plus... [link removed]
Edit: US Site -
curious, what exactly is steam? i know is used for CS but i never played cs so idk...yes im noob
. i don't play much games
-

im downloading the benchmark now, though I didnt want to. 300mb for a benchmark? There goes part of my 60gb per month limit
-
You might as well just spend the extra 700mb for the demo which you can actually play.
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
....lol according to the link im downloading that you gave its actually 1gb.....oh well ill download it anyway

I'll try the demo out on my laptop. I wonder how it will fair, 8600 is the required spec for this game and 8800 recommended and thats desktop cards not notebook.

Demo runs great on my G50V, no delay or lag that I could notice with the game at default settings (1280x700 windowed is the default for some reason)
Graphics look good, gameplay seems pretty in depth for what you do in combat.
Problem I have is I just tried it really fast and do not know the keys, all the buttons in game corispond to a controller button not a keyboard key, so it tells you to press a button and you have no idea what key on your keyboard to use.
Using a 360 controller with this game should work very well.
Its been a long time since I have seen a good PC RPG so I would check this out. As for right now I am playing through Elemental Gimmick Gear & Skies of Arcadia on dreamcast though. So this one will have to wait. -

In the options menu, go to the gamepad, then change the Key Signal Display to Keyboard. -

or just plug in the xbox controller, which is what i do for most console-based games

It's not up on any of Square's sites anymore, so you'll need to use the link I posted, which is a direct link to the Japanese demo. No worries, the text is in English.
-
Uh kevin was that 60 FPS on absolute max.
If so that is great -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
im downloading bench, couldnt find the demo you guys are talking about though will have another look through thread
-
The link to the demo is in post #10.
Man the battles can kill the framerate! I'm going to try turning the battle depth of field off.
I'm definitely buying this game. -
I'll be getting it on PS3 as my X360 version right now suffers with really bad fps. =.=
If the story wouldn't be so cheesy - it would be one of the greatest jRPG's of current gen. (What have been released thus far) -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
got the demo downloaded
going to give it a run and see what its like -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
i had a quick go on it and i like the normal screen and everything, i MAXED it right out
i mean i put everything to MAX the res and all the possible options that i could and it ran great
HOWEVER, the battles? WTH? i had no idea what i was doing or anything i managed to kill some monsters by just pressing buttons and then i was killed by a single TOAD
It would have been better if you started the trial from the beginning so you could get told what the battle thing is all about coz i had no idea what i was doing -

Benchmark at 1280x800 for 9500m GS ~ 8600m GT
24.6 FPS average
29.58 FPS average OC'd ~20% -
I got about 30 at 1280x800 on my 8600m gt
and about 35 when i overclocked 580/1120/900
XPS m1530 2.4Ghz C2D, 4gb ram, 8600gt ddr3. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
i dont have any idea what my FPS were as i didnt get the benchmark but it seemed very study and didnt notice any drops, though i saw some weird "twitches" in the environment during some videos, like when going into to town
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
ok im almost ready to play....downloaded last night now im botting up the game ill be back in 20.....
-
Me too...in 20 Minutes...8800m gts users will know how good the game runs on our gpus. I am hoping to run it absolutely maxed out.
We will see. -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Well ok i played and i ran it on max setting very smooth gamesply this is a unqiue demo for many reason one you can actually save the game(rare for a demo) and two i had to stop because i have some things to do BUT this demo looks REALLY long you can go to like 5 or 6 different locations on the map i can tell right away it is gonna be a long one i like it so far though and i think its worth the download it also is 100% compatable with the Xbox 360 contoller.
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
yeah i forgot to mention that i used my 360 controller worked fine
not really sure what you are meant to do
maybe chance for mods? -
Yup same here. MAX EVERYTHING. tHOUGH THE GAME IS UBER UGLY...BUT I STILL THINK THAT IT IS KINDA BORING. ALL YOU DO IS PRESS ON BUTTON AND THE ALL DO THAT. NO INDIVIDUAL CONTROL. BOOOORRRINNGGGG
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
Yeah not fan of the battle system at all, you dont have any control or anything of what happens gets very boring and i think i will be removing this and wont be buying the game
for the person that said the demo is long, its not i managed to complete it in like 5mins dont go through the field area (cant remember what its called) but their are loads of monsters in area and flying dragons creatures dont go past this area as it completes the trial
i like it and everything BUT the main thing about the game, that being the battles they are very boring -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
no it is long i never did the "main" mission right now im on my like 5th or 6th side mission(this game has alot of side mission it seems) and they are really long one took me like 20 minutes to complete i wanna do everything i can first THEN beat the demo i at this crazy part where you have to fight these 4 demons and they are REALLY strong. I gotta level my party a bit more.
-
How can you play it seriously...you just press attack and they all fight for you. Red Dragon please tell me why you enjoy so much because i want to like it too...
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
LOL i dont even know man for some reason i hate turn based RPG's but this has me interested.
I like the part where you have to connect the combo by pressing the right button.......kinda weird remind me of shenumue(that part).
I also like the randomness of the battles.............Lol i dont even know why i like it? Im confused myself its cool(oddly)come on someone else has to like this.....RIGHT?! -
I'll give it a go. I have heard the combat is wierd though. Im thinking of just dishing out $250 for an xbox360 and Lost Odyssey, cause I really need a good JRPG fill.
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
will lost odyssey ever come out for pc? I wonder.
-
Your not the only one who has enjoyed this demo Red Dragon. The only thing that sucks is my current graphics card can only run at medium details (8600gts), but I get my MSI gt725 friday, so I can hopefully max it out then.
Also Link, Lost Odyssey was a great game. If you like JRPG's that game is a must have as long as you don't mind turn based combat.
One more thing Shenmue is quite possibly the most evil game series ever!!!How can a series just decide to leave all of its loyal fans hanging after shenmue 2 -

ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
yeah LO looked really good, dont see that coming to PC though
this game though is great except for the battles, you dont do anything, maybe hit a button at right time but you just simply dont have enough control over the battles
i want FF13 to come to PC thats about it. would love a remake of 7, 10 and 12 for the PC as well and these are even less likely going to happen i have more chance winning the Euro Millions and the National Lottery UK without entering either -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
which final fantasy games DID come out for PC?
Tyler your new notebook should max it out
Shenmue 3 should have came by now haha -
FF 7, FF 8, and the FF MMO are the only ones I know of for the PC.
-
And yea ive been hearing SO many good things about Lost Odyssey, my friend gave me a TV that is why I am seriously debating buying a 360. I'd be able to play Lost Odyssey, Star Ocean, FF13, and Mass Effect 2 (on-time). I would not even get Xbox Live, I just want good single-player games lol. -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
Are they worth anything? Or is it not ridiculously overpriced like the PS versions lol..
Star ocean looks really good the reviews have been decent and the graphics are pretty nice.
/the frst FF i EVER played was FF8and it was awesome it was on playstation though.
