I am not trying to solicit you guys, but if you use the code, you can try the game instead of wondering what you think about it. This is one of those games, that you fall in love with, only by seeing it in action, really. Also, great time to be getting involved, because there is a Mini-PU (Persistent Universe) that will be coming out later this year, which will have almost all the functions of the MMO part of the game, though just on a smaller scale, to test systems and functions etc.. but it will still be larger then some games out there, even in this.
on my Alienware's with the 980M I have from aftermarket, I can do 1080p full graphical limits, comes out crispy and hits 60FPS (adaptive v-Sync is on) and never goes lower then 50FPS, on a lower end system, with say a 680M or 970M range, I can still hit 45-55FPS on average with almost maxed out graphical fidelity.
The exception to hitting those frame rates is when moving around in the hanger , single player-ish where the highest of polygon count on things loaded on screen can hit multi-millions like on the large ship known as the Retaliator. (Think stealth bomber..) But it looks soo good..I'm so addicted !~

Anyways, here's some photo's of the repair system designed for this spaceMMO..
It shows the complexity and fidelity of repairs, done by the players (which can actually improve upon the craft too.)

This is done with two players, one controls a system that feeds the arms and does schematics uploading to the computer while the other does the assisted targetting and guiding of the laser/feeder that rebuilds the wing in the pictures.
Theres more too it too, you get to choose more then just the basic components and materials used, you can improve upon them, or use substitutes, or use less of one and more of another to accomplish relatively the same result.
The full repair post is here : https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/engineering/15062-Ship-Repair-And-Maintenance

Hey Solo wing, yeah saw you sign up. Its not optimised yet, but I find even for what it is, its pretty good, all things considering. Looks and feels great, the fly for free verison your using is also about 3-4 months behind, since most of us run PTU 1.3F which has tons of fixes.
but yeah, greatest GPU with a mid range last gen CPU.. for a game thats next-NEXT gen, and mostly CPU intensive. HAHASolo wing likes this. -

The free flying is until december 14th ! Signing up for a free account, and using the code will give you 5,000UEC (game currency) but you get to download the game and try it, if the next patch goes live, then you will get to test out 2.0 as well, which is the "large universe" patch that allows you to do FPS, and EVA, and multicrew your ships and theres dozens of missions and laces to go and explore, as well as they give you a few ships to use, like the bigger constellations (which are like 200$ spaceships normally)

Right now (Since last night) 2.0 patch is up, which allows multiplayer and and forming a crew and running off to do missions together etc..

Look at this line up of cast members : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5194726/
a few people from game of thrones or lord of the rings and various other TV series and high profile movies.
Seeing them act is intense, too, when watching behind the scenes, this game is going to make some serious headlines in 2016-2017 when it comes out.
If anyone wants to use my referral code and get some free ingame currency let me know.
But I follow this game religiously. It feels great when flying, course right now, with the state of the Alpha that we're flying in, its not exactly newer player friendly, we all know how to fly and use the systems and we know whats what. newer players might be intimidated by the complexity as it is. (Which is nothing in comparison to what it will be later on..)
But you can buy a package for 45$ now. When I created this thread you could still get in for 30$. By the end of the year it might be 60$, and you again will get less and less. once it hits Beta, things will change, you will have wanted to get in sooner, for cheaper.
There is going to be this server wide persistent at the end of the beta that will determine direction and events in the game, they are calling the event "Operation : Pitchfork".
You will want to say in the end, that you were there, rather then reading about it, or hearing about it for years to come. -

********** ATTENTION ********** VERY IMPORTANT **********
RSI has stated that starting in February Star Citizen and SQ42 would be split into 2 triple AAA Games.
This means that a person will have to purchase each AAA game separately.
If you know someone that is thinking of getting Star Citizen, they should do it before the end of THIS WEEK.
If you Gift a package to someone, they must be a Backer to play.
They can become a Backer by Pledging for only $5.00. (poster, etc)
******************************* ONLY ONE WEEK REMAINS *********************************
So, both these games will most likely be 60-80USD when they come out. Your still able to get them now, both for 45$ -
Oh wow good to know, this is why I am upgrading my cards to 980's btw
I have a Constellation Phoenix and a Aegis Saber for when the game hits
, guess I'll have to talk people into getting it.
-
Wait, what do you have to do to get both games? Does it really matter because in the end will cost you thousands to get all the ships you need/want?
-

This is BS. Making us pay for every single ship and add-on... It's like Rail Simulator.

But it seems like Robert got a taste of money. All that crowd funding must have got into his head... -
You can get all the ships you want with in-game currency, through your game progression. Don't know where you got that idea... You can "buy" all the ships with real money for now, but what's really happening is that you're backing the project and receiving a ship as a gift. This info was always available from the start.

So if you spend $50 and get the cheapest ship, you have to grind for 1000 hours before you can do anything interesting and/or get plastered all the time because your ship is too weak. That's how I see it. That being said, at least it's not "free to play"...
And with the Squadron 42 all I see for "Pledge Now" is $45 minimum.
And the real question is... when will this game actually be finished?Last edited: Jan 28, 2016 -

You guys don't need a ship. There are a million backers with room in their ships for additional crew. Most of the people I know have a few extra ships lying around almost begging for people to sign up to be the captain, gunner, engineer or science officers of security etc..
The game is going to be more then just spaceship in space, your going to board stations and board ships, evac over to the ship through space... your going to be able to do hostile takeovers and roleplay it, too on private servers, theres more then the fair share of FPS in this game too. Your going to be able to go from planet to space and vice versa and do things in between as well.
as for the ships, yeah your just spending money to fund the game. But right now, for the next week or something, we have it on good authority, that they will be splitting the packages up. You can buy Squadron 42, which will be a crazy AAA title in the theme of like wingcommander games were back in the 90's, or you can pledge for the MMO of StarCitizen which is where you will have the assets you pledge for like ships, and hangers..
The reputation and UEC you are going to earn playing SQ42 will carry on over, so will the character and its customizations, to the persistent universe.
They already made the lowest package go from 15$ to 30$ then to 45$ now, and now its going to split, and the target goal is two 60$ packages. With already a MILLION people pledged and more, this game will be as large is not larger then WOW when it launches, might as get on board and watch things being created as it finishes, thats what most the backers do. We sit and watch, its like having a favorite TV show or hobby, something to do, that is immersive. We all gather and chat on comms and hang out, meet new people thanks to the Orgs we join. I personally am part of "TEST Squadron", where any one is welcome. Very highly organised Org with tons of divisions and loads of fun and interesting people. (think we're at nearly 9,000 members) -
I might go for Squadron 42 because I don't have time for no stinkin' MMO. And after it's $60 for two months it will go on sale for $20... I think 90% of the people really interested in this game have already pledged and I don't think sales will be that high after the fact.
And I want my own stinkin' ship. I don't want to be a tag along on someone else's and have to only play when they do. Doesn't sound like fun to me. Not to mention the whole insurance bullcrap. If you play regularly you can probably pay the credits just fine, but if you play infrequently you're forced to pay real money for more insurance because you haven't been able to maintain enough credits.
All that said, I did sign up at least... call me "Captain TightPants"...Last edited: Jan 28, 2016Samot likes this. -

Sounds like a ponzi scheme to me. I say that as someone who has had to resist buying in on it. Honestly don't trust it yet but sure hope it is the real deal and gets completed. If it does, and it ends up being what it looks like it could be, I'll pay 60 for it.
