    Some questions!

    1. Pre-Order from Steam or Gamestop?
    2. Regular or Delux Edition?

Other thoughts on the game will it be good, etc. etc. Discuss!

Anyone have a "Fleet" they are recruiting for!

I'm thinking the steam deluxe version at the moment. It is really a personal choice. All the extras will likely be stuff you drop or don't use not long after launch. The main website has all the different versions listed from all the retailers and what they include if you click the buy now option.

I'm a Goon so.... Sadly I will not be able to invite anyone to Goon's Fleet since we don't recruit. I'd say we could easily organize 10,000+ people at launch but I just don't know how big the fleet is at the moment. I'm talking active people best estimate. We currently have several organized fly together fleets with Executive structures in closed beta and will likely consolidate them into one monsterous Fleet the likes of which even Eve online has never seen once the head start begins. I know this seems big and crazy but most who know Goonsquad would realize I am not kidding. :D

Star Trek has a lot of potential. I will probably be playing this and Star Wars the old republic with a little aliens vs predator (lanparty action) when I can this year.

I've seen too many MMOs flop over the years to ever consider pre-ordering.

I never pre-order unless I get a significant discount. I don't see the point. That being said, I am looking forward to this. I am not a big fan of MMORPG's, but I am an avid Star Trek fan. I hope they don't screw this one up!

im getting the Amazon pre order, because the borg bridge officer can be used throughout the game.

Im an officer in my guild and we are not really recruiting at the moment. We probably wont recruit untill the game starts to aviod false promises.

I preordered on steam tonight. I've got the icon for the open beta waiting to install. It's not installing yet but should whenever it starts. :D

If you like game boxes (woot! boxes) then Gamestop, but if you want to leave the house...Steam! I"m more of a Star Wars guy but they're usually over-populated with jedis :/

I think it could be pretty good, from all I've read, and heard about the beta.

The thing that made my mind up about which preorder is that you can't even use the extras for the character you make in the headstart. That and the fact they say you'll be able to buy them before long anyway. I don't want emotes, DX before my ship name or tshirts or anything like that. The Amazon version is £24.97, so if it does turn out to be a flop, then I haven't wasted twice as much. The extras don't look particularly special when you examine what they are and consider the regular alternatives. They can't make the preorder stuff unbalance the game, so it is just different, not better. Many of them seem like little initital game boosts. I'm not that lame. I think the challenge is a big part of the fun in the game.

Hmmm on the fence on this one, been a star trek fan most of my life. Only one I never got into was Star Trek Voyager, all the others I loved (especially DS9).

This time around I think i'll wait and see what you guys who have pre-ordered think of it. If it's good we should get all the unguilded players and form the NBR star trek guild :D

Being in the Closed Beta for the last month I would suggest for those considering a pre-order is to wait for Open Beta. Due to NDA I can't really say anything until OB hits but it will be interesting to see how STO fairs come release day cut-off.

I didn't think you could get a open beta testing code unless you preordered, or maybe if you were already already on the closed beta?

Can you test it without buying?

Good question. I'd love to be able to at least give it a whirl and see it for myself as well.
