So this game is finally coming to PC. If anyone played on the consoles, is it well worth it, or just another joke Star Wars game?
-
I played it on the Wii, I will get for PC as well. It was fun and the PC can only improve on that. XD
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
it got pretty mediocre reviews all around...
-
In all fairness though, I didn't give it much of a chance, just didn't like the feel of it. -

Its not amazing, but it is one of the better star wars games of the last few years or so. It can be quite a lot of fun once you get into it, and the story isnt too bad, although a bit short.
-
Its a fun game to play as a Sith and go around and slash people. I played it for the ps2 and it was ok. Probably get the pc version for the updated physics and mods.
-
Rule of Thumb:
Avoid games with " unleashed" & " ultimate" in the title. -

IMO the best game to play as a Sith was Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (not Sith Lords, because that game, as all fans know, was rushed and unfinished).
Otherwise, there really hasn't been a decent Star Wars game in a long, long while.
I'd bust out my copy of KotOR actually but Mass Effect is quite fun -

Last truly decent/good games were probably Republic Commando, Pod Racer, KOTOR and X Wing Alliance. TFU is fun but isnt quite there.
On a related note one of the KOTOR2 restoration mods just finally released a major overhaul. -

Yeah, I was following them a year ago, but I'm in no mood to bust out KotOR II over Mass Effect.
Battlefront II was quite good as well. Not to mention Galactic Battlegrounds -
Here we go again with the best star wars games... it seems to happen when anyone mentions star wars in a thread, lol. Anyways, Rouge Squadron and Rouge Leader FTW!
-
the story is quite good, better than the gameplay at least.
-
-
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed on the Wii was playable, but was short and boring after hours of killing the same dudes. -

Not forgotten, I just got the dates wrong, for some reason I was thinking JK1 and 2 were before XWA and that's 10 years old (DF2:JK was 1997). Hell Dark Forces was like 1995 and thats technically the first in the JK series too. I used to play JK2 quite a lot back in the day, remember typing in all the codes to make the lightsaber as it should be.
I'd disagree they were the best Star Wars games though, Tie Fighter/XWA were the best IMO, hell it was still running in the top 10 best pc games ever for most magazines up til a few years ago (it seems to have been forgotten a bit since, probably because its almost 15 years old!!).
Besides, Im not going to list ALL the good Star Wars games, because they actually used to be good in the majority! -

IMO KotOR is where it's at

I played Force Unleashed with my six year old on the 360 (which should be somewhat similar to the PC)...and I actually really enjoyed the game...
It reminded me of God of War for the PS2...same over-the-shoulder third person perspective in an action game...the fighting mechanics aren't done as well as God of War, but the control scheme is fairly responsive and quick to learn (on a 360 gamepad)...
There are a few graphical glitches and bad camera angles but there are very few games that manage to avoid those issues and, in this game, they aren't too pervasive and didn't distract me from enjoying the game...
Incredible boss battles...somewhat repetitive action in between the bosses, but the settings are fairly diverse...although the second half of the game just repeats the locales from the first half...
As mentioned, the story is incredible if you're a Star Wars geek like me...it would take place at some time between Episode 3 and Episode 4...and it's an amazing story...you even get to make a huge choice at the end...unfortunately, after the choice is made, the game ends fairly quickly...
My biggest complaint about the game, as a few others have said, is that it is too short...even with the first downloadable content (which was 'meh'), it's short...
My biggest praise is for the atmosphere...Star Wars to the core with lots of little details (check out the Imperial commander's trophy room on the Wookie planet) and a better take on force powers than was done in any of the Jedi Knight games...throwing Stormtroopers and Wookies around as Darth Vader on the first level never gets old...my son loved holding enemies in the laser tube in the Death Star as it was test firing...a future Jeffrey Dahmer just waiting to bloom...
In the end, if you enjoy Star Wars games, you will probably enjoy this one unless you can't stand third-person action games...if you enjoy third person action games, you will probably enjoy this one unless you can't stand Star Wars...is it as polished as God of War? No...does it have the Star Wars license going for it? Yep, in spades...
I'm not sure that I would pay more than $40 for it, but value is a tough call...and I have no idea if it has multiplayer...it doesn't have split screen or cooperative multiplayer...I don't know if there's online battles in the 'training arena'...if there is, we never tried on the 360...great single player game... -
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith

You have got to be kidding me...

So, what now, a 4 DVD install? I guess BR can't come as a PC game disk standard too soon.
-
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
Still, if its using a 24GB install, compared to the dual layer dvd used in the 360 version, that suggests then at least they MAY have done some heavy work on improving the game textures and effects. It could be sloppy install and a lot of uncompressed work, but I'd be surprised if that takes that much space; so beyond the small amount of additional content, much better texture work, and better audio would seem the most obvious places the extra space requirements could have come from.
The other possibility is that the game is actually only about 10GB but does a lot of uncompressing and uses a lot of temporary files duing the install. -
Considering this is released on the X360 as well, I'm surprised the file size is that huge. But like you said, if it is highly compressed, then maybe it will fit on a single double layer DVD ~ 9GB.

Really wasn't started as a response to the OP's question -
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
maybe its just 5gb for the game and the rest is the DRM, lol.
-
Alexrose1uk Music, Media, Game
Hahah, hopefully not. As above, Im hoping if that figure is realistic, its due to much improved texturing, higher resolution sound, additional content, more effort put into the graphics and the like, rather than pure wastage.

beat it 100 % for ps3
It is easily a great star wars game. Not as good as Kotor but still really good.
I may get it. -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
I tried the demo on PS3... lasted about 5 minutes and I was bored lol. When this hits the bargain bin I will buy it for PC. In the meantime I will stick with Batman, Borderlands, The Saboteur and Bioshock 2 (whenever the last 2 arrive).
-
i don't know why people keep comparing this game and Kotor, yes both the titles have star wars but the game mechanics and gameplay is totally different, not to mention they are like 4000 years apart from each other
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
You know what Star Wars game I really liked that is often overlooked, Bounty Hunter. Ya the whole collecting bounties was kinda lame but the jet pack and shoot 'em up dual pistol action was frickin fun as hell!
-
Been waiting for this for a while to come to PC, anyone know the system requirements? i loved it on the xbox, great game!
14gb
Installing now, look's promising! -
Really, really poor performance on my notebook : Core2Duo T5450 4 gigs of ram and mobility hd2600 512 ddr3. It`s not playable guys. The framerate is beetween 10-20 fps . Can`t understand it , because when launching the game for a second time , the game runs smoother around 20-30 frames.
-
Doesn't run too bad for me, but i would like to turn settings down a bit? in the launcher the only option i have is to change the resolution, is there any other way to turn down other video options?
Thanks -
Nope , the graphics option that is given is only the resolution change.
-
Yea, this would be an example of a poor console port, low-end machines will have problems.
-
Hopefully a patch will come to allow you change other video settings.

Any idea how this would run on my system (see sig)

Is this game any good? I'm considering picking it up at some point, but it has gotten many mediocre console reviews.

I'll stay silent on the multiplayer comment.
It's an okay game, not worth the full price. Find it on ebay or something. -
-
I bought it on 360 near when it came out beat it probably on easy then hardly played it again really doesn't have much depth to the game at all. It wasnt made but i wouldn't say it was the greatest game ever. I'd probally skip on it.
-
So there is a pc version this time?
Why isn't it on steam? -
