Setup:
i5 450M (stock clocks)
4GB DDR3 RAM
ATI 5650 (stock clocks)
Running off the stock HDD w/ clean install
Game:
StarCraft II
1920x1200 res
High graphics and textures
Problem:
Ok so I get a steady 40-45fps, but every once in awhile, it will drop to ZERO for a split second. This happens when I do simple stuff like make a probe or a building. It's weird.
The game runs FLAWLESS... 40+ fps most of the time.. 30+ fps in big battles.. but this zero fps drop is annoying.
Any suggestions?

i dont get it? I have an i5 430m, 4gb ddr3 ram, 5850 mobility (700/1000) and i get 20-30 frames on ultra and on high i only get 30-40fps (native res of 1680x1050). however is see people like OP and others that get higher frames than me even on less powerful machines? How is this possible, im really confused?
Anyways OP what cats are you on? I found that 10.8 was unstable so i rolled back to 10.6 but it has a few graphical glitches in a few games. -
He is running the game at 1366x768, that's why.

oops, sorry, it's my mistake then, didn't read through his post.

As for your low fps... do you have vsync on? reduce mouse lag checked? those will reduce fps.
I just overclocked my 5650 to 650/950 and it gives me another 5fps or so but increased temps of 2-3 degrees. I'll probably leave it stock.
