I'm just wondering if others are as addicted to the campaign as I am. I got the game a few days after launch, and immediately went into the campaign. Damn, it was awesome. Research, armory, mercenaries, old friends returning. It was really multi-dimensional and customizable.
I got through the end, and then started replaying All In over and over because it just rocked. I thought I'd redo the campaign just to try different choices along the way for the missions. After that, I've started going back working on every achievement, which I'm still missing a ton. The achievements added another level of depth to the campaign.
I restarted the campaign *again* to re-tweak my research tree for fun, and along the way I realized I never did the Zeratul mission line. Hot damn, that was a lot of research I missed. The dungeon crawler missions are really creative and you really get to see the personality of each character. Breakout, Piercing the Shroud and Belly of the Beast are just freakin awesome missions.
Now I'm almost to the end of my 3rd playthrough and I'm about to try All In vs. air instead of ground. I mean, seriously, this game's single player aspect has tons of replayability. I haven't even touched multiplayer yet because I'm so engrossed in the campaign. Are others having the same effect?

I have to admit that I really loved the campaign but sound it kindda short ..... dunno maybe cuz I compared it to SC1 or maybe cuz it took only 2 days to finish .... but still it is amazing

it was fun until about replay # 3 and then when I started to play brutal to get the last of my achievements.
Once you start hunting achievements it becomes a bit more "work" than "fun" -
I'm jumping straight to brutal and hard for achievements after my exams. But yes, it's so much fun
I do wonder how the zerg will work around with the research part though... I'd say they lack technology... Perhaps just plain evolution -
The campaign is quite nice, but in a sense it was quite short. I miss games that were long as hell and took you a whole summer to beat.
But anyways, i just play greentea ai now. -

I've yet to complete the campain, but quite frankly it bores the hell outta me. I'm trying to do the harder achievments along the way... But there tricky
-
No, I hated the campaign.
Yeah, that's right, hated. And I don't use that word lightly. I really wanted to like it.
Go re-play the original SC campaign and expansion. That's how you make a campaign. Not this good-for-nothing piece of crap they're giving us now. -
You need to explain that.
SC1 compaign was good, but you were limited to long conversations over tv screens. Boring.
This has taken story telling to a whole new level in a strategy game. The RPG elements and decision making was pretty neat too.
Good for nothing peice of crap? Give me a break. -
The effects and animation of the story were great. But the actual STORY part of it, that was a massive rewrite of what the original set up and changed the characters significantly. The original was an amazing example of what a story in a game should be. Who cares if they were just faces on TV screens? Are you saying that there can't be any good books because they're just words on paper?
-
It's not bad, but definitely not what I expected after 12 long years.
And making the campaigns 3 different games is just plain robbery. -
I'll explain, at least in the shorthand version. If I were to really start explaining why I think the storyline is crap, it would end up in a profanity-laden rant that I simply don't have enough booze at the moment to get through.
Starcraft 2 story mode:
- Plays out like a bad fan-fic
- No character development
- Jim Raynor is made into a Mary Sue character
- Your ship's mechanic is a Dwarven Inventor ripped straight out of World of Warcraft
- Protoss are not supposed to refer to Jim as "James Ray-Nor" as if they were the robot from Lost in Space
- The "scientist" girl (can't even remember her name) is a totally flat, forgettable, pointless character, whose plotline is just as banal, cliche, predictable, and boring as her face (and if you think that's what a girl scientist looks like... well, thank god it isn't!)
- Valerian Mengsk is pre-undead Arthas
And here's the worst one of all:
- NOTHING INTERESTING BLOODY HAPPENS!
Not counting the very last event of the very last mission, there isn't a single thing I could say about the campaign that would require spoiler tags. There are no plot twists. There are no unpredictable events. You see everything coming from a mile away, because the game announces they are going to happen. Even the final plot twist of the last mission, the game tells you it's going to happen three bloody missions earlier! (Well, there's arguable exception for what Tychus does, but I saw that one coming from the introduction cinematic, and not because I'm psychic).
That's enough of a rant for now. But there is absolutely no way that the SC2 campaign even comes within a long shot of the character, the intrigue, the surprise twists, and the maturity of the very first Terran campaign of Starcraft Vanilla alone. -
i really enjoyed it. i actually stopped with about 2 or 3 more missions to go cuz i wanted to wait for my new laptop before i completed the campaign. i liked it so much, i want to wait to experience it in 1080p resolution and high/ultra details.
-
I loved the SP campaign a lot on hard difficulty although I only have time to play it once (ultra settings).
The missions lasted longer than what I was expecting so I ain't complaining.
-
I think I might've lost interest in the campaign. I gave some AI skirmishes some tries, and especially the 2v2 and 3v3's with AI are fun. I didn't know the tech trees were so different in multiplayer. I'm still annoyed at medics being dropped from multiplayer. Medics are so much better at attack moving with ground units.

actually everything in starcraft is directly 'inspired' by warhammer 40k
i liked the graphics and animation but i found the story extremely lame and cheesy. histidine mostly explained why. -
A cliche is fine if you do it right, and put new and interesting twists on it (Space Confederates, everyone is descended from the meanest criminals on Earth, the Tyranids and Tau/Eldar were both created by an even more ancient race, etc.).
