Thought I would start this thread so that members could share their in-game performance characteristics and screenshots for Starcraft 2.
Quick overview of in-game settings would be nice (High/medium/low/etc.), correseponding rig specs (if not in your sig), and frame rates, so others can get an idea of how their rig will perform.
And of course, post SCREENSHOTS, for all to seeEnjoy!

Brendanmurphy Your Worst Nightmare
On my xps in sig. I am running at 1600x900 all high shadows medium and get constant 25+ normally around 35. Anything above 20 on an rts is plenty
-
I can play at 1280x720 at 15+ fps with medium textures and settings on my i7 and 5650.
-
Everything on highest setting @ 1366X768 and I get about 35~55fps with Q9300 and HD4850 (desktop), the game uses all 4 core it seems (all my core are on 100%)
-
Ouch!! Really? Because you are way above even the recommended settings.
-
-
how do you display FPS. I have been running my xps in sig at full HD res with all the other settings at default and the game play is super smooth, but I would be curious about my FPS.
THKS! -
Google and download FRAPS.
And before you ask; no it won't slow down your performance with it running in the background. -
I was running it on ultra high at 1920x1200 on my precision m6500 and it seems like it might be a little laggy (not sure) so I changed it to high for everything. I'll download fraps and see what frames I'm getting both ways.
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
guys. you can use ctrl+alt+f to view your fps without something like fraps.
also I was getting 30ish fps on medium or high with my envy 14 at 1600x900 450/800 base or 550/800 OC (to stock for the dv6t)
I had to drop the screen to 1280x720 and then I got in the 40s. Still looks great on high.
Low...Low it murders the game at 120+ fps -
Something about the game keeps corrupting my mouse cursor. It looks garbled even when I exit to windows. Anyone else having a similar issue?
HP DV7-4071nr Win7 (64 bit) / 4 GB RAM / i7 / 720QM / ATI 5650 @ stock 550/800
edit: Can run SC2 @ 1280x720 at 24+ fps with High Textures and High Detail and shadows set to Low. -

Seems fine on my desktop 1920x1200 all Ultra/Maxed out with Vsync on.
Q6600 @ 3.6ghz and a 5870.
I did like 6 campaign missions and need to get some sleep now.
Very happy with the campaign mode, love the upgrade system and the between mission dialogs on the ship. -
when the game is playing a video (inside the game, shown on their TV); it looks pixelated. Anyone got this?
-
1680*945 high setting sync on works fine with my acer 8930g game is so great..
-
Yeah, very blocky for me as well, even on HD.
-
Running 1600x900, all settings on high with an Asus G73JH, FPS is triple digits during cutscenes, ingame running a constant 45-50. Temperatures scare me a little though, in game it's fine at around 80-85 degrees C, but on the ship and during cutscenes I am getting 97-100.
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
that's because it's going to fast. Game doesn't know how to limit itself.
you need to throw a couple lines into your variables.txt to fix that.

Glue is for the menu fps. -
How does it feel online without the chat channels? I think i'll get the game soon but I will really miss the random convos in chat channels D:
-
How about some people post some of that eye candy
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I will, I'll do youtube videos because all pictures look alike to me and anybody can post a picture but not many people get video quality right.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video must be worth a million. -
OOoooooooooo! Youtube videos would be cool also... I dont mind screenshots at all though if anyone cares to post them

All settings at maximum/ultra, 1920x1080, framerates consistently above 20, and running smooth as butter. Better than I expected! Game must like Nvidia...
For the record, I'm just on the campaign, so no crazy 4v4 200-unit battles yet. Still, I've seen quite a few explosion-heavy sequences without so much as a hiccup. -
Feels great. Public channels leads to idoits acting like 4chan members. Rather not have to deal with them.
-
Looks good! Mine (on low) looks like crap. The shapes are all there, but no textures. It just looks like someone used waterpaint to draw the picture, unlike yours with full details. Drool.

Nice, I wonder if this game would use 6 cores. -
OC your RAM. Going from 800 to 1000 (should be easily doable) will make a HUGE difference. I personally run my Envy 15 at 575/1075 (up from 500/800) and it's worlds of difference.
I play my Collector's Edition at 1920x1080, settings at High with a few tweaks and everything seems really smooth. Haven't checked the FPS though, as I just installed it and that hasn't been high on my list. I've also only done a few of the first single-player missions. Still, the game just feels right. Nostalgia, but refreshed. Everything SCII should be. -
I think that at this point with overclocking the Envy 14, setting the core to 550 and then overclocking the memory causes the computer to crash...
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
yeah the E14's card is kinda..iffy.
anyway I got playable FPS on high with lighting at low, shadows medium, terrain medium.
playable for campaign. online it wouldn't work so well but whenever I do online stuff I'll get around to modifying variables.txt to make it look nice (but run somewhere between low and medium). anyway in campaign in between mission it's very nice (40-60. I capped my fps at 62 to stop things from catching on fire since blizz..well..screwed that up)
also, screenshots say hi. photobucket decided to resize them to 1024x576
-
1600*900 @high settings a few on ultra and shadow on med.
Runs 30-40 fps with a i5 and 5650 @ 725/900 while doing the campaign.
~60 while on the ship. -
Heh, so I did a little more playing around with big armies and tracking my fps...
I can do a 200 supply army, all on one screen, and keep above 30fps. I can do a 200 supply (protoss) army in battle with a bunch (dunno how many) of zerg. Big battle, lots of explosions, creep, blood, splatters, fire, etc. It keeps above 20.
Heh. Then I fly a mothership next to my army to cloak everyone, and I think I heard my GPU groan under the strain
.
I saw as low as 6fps in a full battle of 200 points of cloaked protoss against about that much zerg. Okay, so I don't get to play at ultra if I want to have split-second reactions in any and all battle situations. But as long as nobody buys a mothership, I can pretty much do whatever I want
.
Oh, and there's a really good campaign level for trying out huge battles with enormous armies. You'll know when you get there
.

ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Yeah the motherships secret weapon is to crash your opponents computer from the lag/strain.
Problem is that the protoss have not figured it out yet that they have the weapon backwards it lags your computer and not the enemies.
I can play Ultra 1920x1080 no issues at all and stay in the 40+ club on the G73 but that mothership brought me down to what felt like single digits and actually crashed my game in beta.
When I turned it down to all High I did not see any difference in graphics but noticed that the performance stayed at like 60fps constantly so it was probably worth it anyways. -
Just got the game and played a little on my desktop. So far so good on maxed settings.
Ultras @ 1920x1080.

Great stuff guys...keep it coming. Haven't got the game yet, probably this weekend. Vicious, looking forward to the videos and hooking up on the friends list. Nice job with that.
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
about the mothership.
go into variables.txt which is in my documents --> starcraft II and set simplecloaking = 1
cloaking won't look as good but the mothership shouldn't hit your fps so badly -
-
Kinda off topic, but didn't want an entire new thread:
I was trying to change keybindings, but it only appears you can toggle keybindings between 4 presets. I really really need the camera move keys to be moved to WASD. Playing on a laptop and having to move your left hand way over to the arrow keys is so damn uncomfortable. I'm getting ready to just hook up my Nostromo pad so I don't cramp up my shoulder. -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
you can do that.
but you gotta go and modify the mpq files.
[G] Customized hotkeys without bugs -
OK guys, I seem to have a big problem running SC2 on ASUS N53 (i5-540M, 4GB, GT335M). It's only playable at 1360x760 @ low settings (except textures). I reckon there must be something wrong with this all Optimus Technology, but I'm not sure what I should even do to chech whether or not it is using the dedicated GPU (and I suspect it doesn't).
-
The 335M GT is not that great of a card... The core clock is not all that good. You should have good shader speed though.
-
Well, it's a bit slower than 5650, on which users play @mid-high settings. So there must be something wrong ಠ_ಠ
-
Well the reason for that is because they have designed the game for mouse panning, with command units and if you hit the space bar you instantly zoom to the current action, or double tap(crtl+1) to zoom in on a group/building. Also wasd all assign to different build tactics when on different units/buildings. Hence the prevention of keymapping those keys.
All that said friggen fantastic game! Love the campaign to far, but I am missing the new SP units in MP, can't wait for all the xpacs to HOPEFULLY unlock ALL the units in MP. -
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
it looks like it's locked in powermizer low settings or something.
the hell.. -
No, that's even worse than that - it doesn't even do anything when I run SC2. Just look at the GPU Usage ಠ_ಠ
-
Friend of mine noticed the same thing, hardly a difference between ultra and high, but bring in the mothership and all hell breaks loose on ultra. Hysterical.
-
how well does sc2 run on laptop with a intel hd gpu? thanks
-
If your talking about an integrated gpu, my brother has a Toshiba with one and a core duo processor and he can barely sustain 20 fps with everything on low, and any kind of large battle becomes a slide show.
-
thanks for the info. im about to buy a toshiba satellite a660 w/ nvidia 1gb gpu. and intel i5 gpu. sc2 should run fine.
