starcraft 2 is the most likely next game in the blizzard franchise. I'm pretty sure were all sick of Warcraft .

 

A Korean site as the source? Sounds like it might have a little credibility to me ^_^. Imagine the backlash at home if they were wrong.

It's about time. 10 years was a long wait.

 

I doubt Blizzard will do Starcraft II justice. That's not saying I won't buy it, though.

I wonder what engine they'd base it off of. Would they use the Warcraft III partially 3D engine, or would they design a whole new one?

Starcraft II with Company of Heroes-level graphics would be insane.

 

i hope the 2nd sc will be as good as the first, i hope they wont dumb down the game like all the rts games now

 

Hopefully it will have good graphics, as long as its as good as C&C 3 then I'm happy.

 

Ah, Starcraft 2. I've been hoping for a sequel as much as the next person, but not as devotedly as one of my friends who checks for Starcraft news every day.

About the 3D engine, I'm fairly sure that they would use a completely new engine since the Warcraft III one is very old. Not even DX7. Still, my friend does have a good point in that, I hope they don't make the hardware requirements too high. The great thing about Starcraft right now is that it can run on like any computer. I know that's mostly because it's old, but I think it helps focus things on game play and strategy rather than just visual fluff. Not that I want the game to look bad. Just I hope they create a very optimized engine that looks great, but runs fast on DX9.0 and up and maybe a legacy DX8.1 path for the GeForceFX. (I know I'm really setting low requirements, but it would be great if we could run Starcraft 2 on school computers like we run Starcraft and Warcraft III now. It's not encouraged, but they don't mind as long as you aren't disturbing anyone.) I wonder with a 3D engine how realistic they are going to make everything since Carriers and Battlecruisers should be huge.

In any case, I definitely think that a new Starcraft game is in the works. Especially since Blizzard had an April Fool's joke where they said that they were working on another Warcraft game which made the Starcraft community gasp. The tease likely means that another Warcraft is not in the works and it's Starcraft afterall.

 

Compared to games like Company of Heroes, Starcraft feels "Dumbed down".

 

They should make the minimum graphics at the GF6 series level. Also, a little more emphasis on unit promotion, without sacrificing the whole "numbers=pwnage" concept inherent to SC. And make the story as good as the original...I for one found WC3's story to be putrid and childishly predictable.

On another note, did they officialy cancel StarCraft Ghost? I'm not up to date on my Blizzard news.

 

yeah they cancelled SC Ghost ages ago

I think some of the team left and I think that goes the same with the original SC team and the WOW team too.

so who knows if and what SC 2 will be like

 

Haha I remember when SC Ghost was scheduled to be released a few years ago in November. My parents were asking me what I wanted for Christmas that year so I told them to buy me SC Ghost when it came out.

 

And are they still waitin to buy that for ya? lol

 

But the things about Blizzard RTS games are that they've practically mastered the skill oriented side of it. Also sc/wc are the only games I know where a good display of micro can reverse the outcome of a game. Thats why they are so addicting, and the modding community helps also.

 

Lets hope Starcraft II will not be cancelled/ delayed like Starcraft Ghost..helyea i was annoyed when they had no news of Ghost for a long time...
