Starcraft 2 problem

hi guys, i just got my hands on SC2

after installing and patching, first thing i tried was the campaign...
but only 10 seconds after loading into the first mission or level... i noticed a problem... my units and objective structures did not load, or i cannot see them, but after moving my units (invisible units) around he suddenly appears in some areas, i havnt quite figured out which areas the units would appear or disapear, cant find the pattern so i dont know what the problem is.

im just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem, or knows what the problem may be.

im currently using Alienware m17x with m5870 crossfire.

Edit: forgot to mention, normal map games have no problems at all, only campaigns...

 

How did you get a copy of starcraft 2 before it's release?

Even if you have a legit copy you shouldn't be able to use it yet.

 

I thought Blizzard's release date would include international as well unless it's already the 27th there!

Obviously your problem sounds ATI-driver related.

 

I live in Australia, and its 27th 4am here now, was a midnight release...

But i have the lastest video drivers available from Dell. and i read from somewhere that dell m5870 doesnt use same drivers as the one from ati sites...

 

Well, I dunno. Let me play the game for a while and I'll see if I can replicate your issue.

Maybe it's a common issue? Maybe 4 out of the 5 people in the world currently playing SC2 are having it?

Try not running the cards in crossfire and see if the problem persists?

 

ok... i just found a way to kind of fix the problem...
might sound a little stupid, but if you just keep restarting the mission till everything is loaded... seems to be ok..

i guess its a heads up for those of u that havnt got the game yet =\

Edit: btw, the game is great, got all graphics on ultra atm, looks beautiful. there are currently only 125 games on B.net cant wait till people make custom maps for this game, looks like endless potentials.

 

Argh this reminds me of way back when I was gaming on an ATI card and the graphics in Warcraft 3 were all corrupted during the beta. I hope everything runs smoothly when I get the game tomorrow. (I have a 5650 right now)

edit: Speaking of which, it appears that Cat 10.7 is available for download from ATI's site today. Hopefully it'll fix any potential issues gamers might have with SC2. Campaign or multiplayer. You should give them a try Mr. Bounty!!

 

yea, i was at ati site before.

but dell:alienware uses their own drivers and software (from what i remember and read)

but game is kinda running fine now , (with crossfire) just sometimes i have to restart the mission.

im trying to set up my eyefinity at the moment. ill post results in a bit.

 

well... SC2 does not support eyefinity. i gues it would be unfair if its possible

 

Yeah I am an eyefinity user and after getting it I am incredibly picky about games I get now. If a lesser game supports it compared to a slightly better game that does i would go for the lesser game.

The experience makes any game so much better, more fun, more realistic.

However I knew well ahead of time not to expect SC2 to support it, its like a national sport overseas and its a very competitive based game, having more view of the field would definitely give a higher advantage if you learned to view it all at once.

But since the fog of war is there its not like you would really see anything. I guess it would be nice if it could be used in none competitive ways like custom games just not ladder/ranked games but I didnt expect that to happen.

If they wanted to be creative they could have used the extra screens for other stuff though that would not lead to any advantages like a HUD that shows the current score, match time, your resources, things like that.

 

that being said the FOV isn't the same between resolutions in sc2. think 16:10 is slightly bigger than 16:9, etc

close, but not exactly the same...unless blizz fixed that sometime in beta (they might of. not like I was paying attention)

 

Last I checked 16:9 gets the max view space and 16:10 gets cropped.

The last time I got puled over was also when buying something new.

I just got a GXTV from EBGames in the mall and must have not been watching my speed down the side road that exits the mall. Its a 20mph zone and I got pulled over @40 he said.

I did get a ticket though

I get mad because every time I go down that road everybody is doing 40mph I just was the one guy that got pulled over.


I guess that will be the new sales pitch for steam. They pulled the "stay out of trouble this summer by staying home and playing games" now for mid year they can say "save money and avoid speeding tickets get your games digitally"

 

You had logic on your side, 16:10 should be full and 16:9 cropped but because 16:9 is catching on as a standard (due mostly to console gaming on HDTVs) they did it backwards.

I do not understand why there is no SC2 console version.

I have a 16:9 laptop screen though so guess I can take the good with the bad.

Hey maybe we can get some NBR people together and do some co-op maybe. I've always been more of a Player vs. AI type but I could give PVP a shot sometime.

 

Yeah I am down or co-op for sure. I'll even try pvp if your near my skill level (low skill lol)

Its an issue with crossfire, I had the same problems in beta. I think you have to play in windowed mode (im about to test it right now)

 

If its a crossfire issue playing in windowed mode will make it load only one gpu instead of two so that is why it would fix it.

You can try turning off the Catylst AI and that may fix it, also getting a proper crossfire profile could fix it.

Last but not least turning off crossfire would of course fix it.

 

ran the beta fine for me
