Fyi, this is a probable release date, not yet finalized says so on the site.

Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith

I said that
-
Cool if true... but don't companies often put release dates up even when they aren't sure. I thought for certain Gamestop does this all the time, they put up a arbitrary date and keep changing it till they know for sure.
Oct. 31 sounds very plausible though, I was thinking more like the end of November around Thanksgiven but this will work
-
eh I take all that w/ a grain of salt too tbh.
-
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
I know, but it's sooooo obvious that it will not come out by then. The beta isn't even out yet and they said the beta will be out for a long time before release.
(I will be more then happy if i'm wrong) -
Wonder if they will have open multiplayer beta?
-
FS is f-o-s.
I've been checking with EBGames in person at in order to put a deposit on it and they still don't have a release date posted. I check about once every 2~3 weeks. -
closed beta is coming this summer, i heard it will last 4-6 months.
so around 2015
-
I can't wait for it. Release date is faster than I think.
-
Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
And then from out of nowhere, the release date gets moved to 2010.
SC2 is way due for a release.
-
note to self they are trying to get away with charging $60 for a PC game, gl with that I only buy at $50 cause thats how it should work.
-
whats an extra $10 for a great game and a great developer?
-
The real problem is to get the FULL SC2 experience it will be $60 x 3. Terran, Protos, and Zerg will be each sold as separate games to form a trilogy. -
I havent played the starcraft series before so im looking forward to seeing what everyone is getting excited about....but hope it hasnt been overhyped.
-
lol
bestbuy had SC2 on preorder last year with release date for november 1 (2008)
hehehe gl -
This is my biggest disappointment with Starcraft 2. If they take this long to develop and release it, why not just include EVERYTHING in one box. I'd be fine if initial cost was $50, then you could buy the other two campaigns for $20 each initial retail. But $60 x 3 = PS2 + 2nd controller + 3 games.
-
that's just for the singler player campaigns... who plays those anyway?
Multi Player/Battle net is where its at!
If you get the terran protoss or zerg, you get the multiplayer of all 3. -
im wondering if it will be like the original starcraft or if it will have heros like WC3.
-
...
no heroes
it's an old school RPG just like SC was.
Look at some of the gameplay videos, lots of new units and functionality. They are currently working on balancing all 3 races. -
And thats why it's taking so long. I don't care, because I know it'll be worth the wait, and that 99% of the game will be balanced. December would be the earliest...Im sure they *wish* they could have it out by the Holiday's, but honestly, I doubt it's a big deal for them. It's so popular, they can sell it anytime.
-
As long as these delays dont delay Diablo 3
(my optimistic view is that game is out by 2011
)
-
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
I think you mean "RTS" (Real Time Strategy). -
Did you know you can play Diablo 3 now? Completely free.
- Download World of Warcraft trial.
- Create a Warrior, Magic-user, Hunter, or Thief class.
- Hang out in Duskwood.
Insta-Diablo 3!
-
Is that confirmed? I really don't see people paying 120 dollars more for a longer singleplayer especially given how multiplayer focused starcraft is.
I'm betting that you probably need all of them to access all the units for proper multiplayer. There will probably be a core selection of units common to all editions with each edition featuring more units.
Great developer I'm not so sure anymore. No LAN and $180 hurts... -
Actually all versions support full multiplayer...

I think the actual gameplay (single player / multi player ladder) will not have heroes, but after seeing the success of the hero system in WC3 UMS games like DotA, they're gonna HAVE to add those features in the map editor at the very least -
Regarding the "expansions"
Two things are going to happen:
Either Blizzard don't add any new units to them but releases them at a lower price. People will complain that they didn't add anything new except for singleplayer and is just milking money off of those who buy the expansions.
Or, Blizzard will add new units to the other two games, making people accuse Blizzard of milking the franchise for money because you can't really play on Battle.net without those new units since most of the community will migrate. (Ever tried to play Starcraft without Brood War? Not fun at all) -
Ahem, not everyone plays multiplayer, I, for one, enjoy a strong storyline and campaign. Multiplayer is too much same-same every time. Same map, same strategies, cheaters, hackers, rushers, and rule breakers.
-
Yup, same here. I'm into the single player vs AI experience. Occasional multiplayer with friends but that's about it.
Erm...yes. Before Brood War was released. And it was still fun.
-

Yeah I agree, I'll definitely end up buying the entire trilogy because I want to experience the story
-
notice...the...small text...with a... *...hmm
-
Define full... Sure you can use the full functionality of battle.net but can u use all the units.
It is confirmed a while back that they will include hero capability for SCII's map editor. DotA is a highly significant reason WCIII is still around and still sells. -
I highly doubt this date is correct.
-
Its blizzard Q4 2009 means Q2 2010 or later. Which means they might as well wait for holiday sales 2010.
-
I'm afraid that I agree with some of the others...Blizzard will have to prove themselves again to me...
They were the premiere developer in my eyes...I would buy anything Blizzard put on the store shelves because 1) it would be fun, and 2) it would be polished.
After getting in bed with Vivendi and Activision, I feel like the bottom line has become the driving force at Blizzard...granted, a good game will help the bottom line...
And I am not a multiplayer gamer either...I have a feeling of abandonment since Blizzard seems to be pouring all their time and money into that juggernaut of a money-maker: World of Warcraft...how long has it been since Warcraft 3?
Here's hoping for a 2009 Starcraft 2 release, and a decent price point at release...otherwise, I may continue to buy Stardock's titles as they roll out and wait for Blizzard's to go on sale... -
^^This.
