It's very hard to use Terrans actually, and most multiplayer games at the top ladder level are between Zerg/Protoss players. Marines are too fragile, even with medics. Wraiths can only be used for air support, trying to deploy wraiths against massed ground Zerg/Protoss forces is futile. Siege tanks are nearly useless unless coordinated precisely with air support, something that is simply too stressful to do in the middle of all the macro and micro management. This is because their designated ground escorts---Goliaths---are useless, with the best armor piercing weapons in the game but worst movement AI, stats, and build time ratios.

Come to think of it, a Terran player's only hope is to mass Battlecruisers in a large map and hammer a Zerg player concentrating only on mutalisks or a Protoss player only on carriers. But again, the build times and resource ratios for Terran BC's are pretty bad even then.

I think back when StarCraft was released Blizzard had to limit the unit AI for compatibility with older/slower computers.

StarCraft 2 units should be much more intelligent, from the gameplay trailer you can see the terran jetpack units jumping themselves which shows a small improvement.

Boo Terran aren't lame. I favor the protoss but You gotta love the classic strat of boxing yourself in with a row of supply depots, bunkers, seige tanks and a few turrets for detection, then lining your sides with missle turrets, classic defense.

Also, I think Blizzard does a good job with all their human races, take a look at the alliance in WCIII..just a bunch of humans, but they are still great fun to play.

Well first, lemme clarify - I'm talking strictly story-wise and how interesting they are as a race, not how useful they are in the game vs other races.

I actually thought the various human-derived races from Warhammer 40k were a lot more interesting...space marines!

Eh, humans were fun to play in wc3, but I still felt they were lacking something. Let's face it..footmen just aren't very interesting... (sure there were other more exotic stuff later on, but even a flying dwarf on a gryphon isn't that interesting compared to say...well...even a wisp :p)

There are actually a good number of excellent Terran players in the Korean SC tournaments. In fact I think the most famous Korean SC player is a Terran user.
