Their DPS went from 42 to 27 when fully charged against armored units which is a huge difference.
Except I guess queens aren't armored? 17 to 13 then, which I guess isn't as much of a difference... though I was happy I was able to shoot down voidrays with just a few marines yesterday in a FFA![]()
-
People would soon be crying on how overpowered zerg got or or underpowered protoss is
-
He had 2 void rays and i had 3 queens. Before the patch, I would more or less have lost one queen at the very least, even with transfusion.
Didn't lose a single one that game, anyhow just happy they didn't do zerg nerfs =) -

Now, admittedly, I'm a Bronze 1v1, but whenever I've gotten void rays, I have always upgraded flux vanes immediately. I find them frustratingly slow without. -
After wining and leaving a game to the score screen, Bnet used to tell you how many points you've earned from your match up, 3 if you're expected to win, 6 if the other person is favored, etc. But I no longer see this after the update, just the graphs and the various breakdowns. Am I going crazy or is this option no longer available?

I saw the score screen today and it said how many points I made.
I know they made some changes to the points you get though with random players. Not sure in what way it was changed.
I got like 5 2v2 ladders in. I won 3 of them and lost 2. Seems the points I got was lower than it used to be, I thought if anything they were going to make points gained via random higher as compared to pre-arranged teams.
Though losses also seem to count for less, so it was an overall nerf to gaining ranks. Those who are already in high score probably have an advantage to hold that spot. Though most high ranked 2v2, 3v3 people probably do not play with randoms. -
Thanks for your reply. After your opponent has left, do you leave via the screen that pops up, or do you cont. to destroy their buildings and leave by going to menu->score screen. It seems that when I leave via the latter method the score screen no longer shows up.
Lastly, I believe point gain in team games is dependent on who is pulling more wait. Correct me if I am wrong, but this was discussed on the SC2 "the creep" podcast. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Yeah because maybe thats how it is since you changed the score screen by continuing past the point of victory.

if you're playing with a party, I believe you have to play your 5 placement matches...

Any sessions tonight?

So I laddered on the Korean server today as Terran.
And wow am I getting rocked hard by Zerg players. Played 5 ZvTs and lost all of them while I won all my PvTs and my TvTs.
Roaches shut down Hellions so hard now. Blargh. -
Hey guys, been a while. I've been too busy with grad school to play or post much, but I took a bit of a break today for a few games with a buddy.
The last game we played, I was exhausted, it was way past my bedtime, and I just didn't want to have a normal, boring game. Besides, I was way too tired to win purely by superior skill and playing ability.
I randomed protoss, so I did the obvious thing any rational, thinking person would do as protoss after studying for hours on end with their eyeballs about to fall out of their sockets: I went carriers.
It turned out to be a hell of a game, and as can be expected, carriers are OP so we won.
I figured: "Hey, protoss air is cool, I'm gonna get some air. So, I'm gonna need lots of gas, so I'll just build lots of zealots as backup. Maybe make them speed zealots. My Terran opponent probably hates speed zealots. (At this point, I was too tired to realize neither of our opponents were Terran.
)
Oh no, they've got lots of stuff! My void rays are garbage against that many mutalisks! I better go carriers. Oh, wow, these carriers take a while to build, and I've got too much gas! I guess I better build a mothership. Oh no! They killed my mothership and almost my carriers! I guess I better build more carriers and another mothership!"
Keep in mind, I was exhausted, so my playing isn't that impressive. Just enjoy the replay for what it is:

Any hints for 2v2? I and my friends are still getting our read ends handed to us on a plate - normally by strange all in builds like 3x2 rax marines (3 rax per player
), or the really strangely common 4gate stalkers build... with no expos, even after 9 min of wasting stalkers against maruders. I keep on expecting a tech switch, so I never build enough hard counters to their unit spamming....
maybe that is just a hallmark of bronze level play, lol...
-
Worker rush one of em
naw jk, hold out to your best of abilities and out-tech em. If they go 4 gate, you tech to immortals or something.
In fact, stealth units kills them easily. -
Is it worth cont. to try to build a creep highway if your opponent is destroying your creep, or is my attention better suited for other things.
I often try to get creep to the other opponents base, and this has proved very useful. I saw Idra do this and was impressed by its versatility. -
Whenever you remember, extend the creep highway. You'll soon make it your second nature to keep on building the creep highway
Focus on macro first though o_o -
It is FAR more important to just get units out than it is to tech to a specific "hard counter" for whatever your opponent may be building. There really aren't any hard counters in SC2 - any unit type or combination can be countered with just about anything, you just gotta have enough stuff to overcome it.
That's why those strategies you're enountering are working so well - 6 barracks can make a ton of units! And you can push out a big army in small time with 4-gate. It would be nice to have a handful of immortals in addition to the horde of basic units, but the counter to mass stalkers isn't to tech straight to immortals. Get your army a nice, sturdy backbone before you start throwing in all those "fluffy" units.
We'd all love to be like Idra, but alas, my fingers are just too fat. I sometimes completely neglect my creep, other times I find it essential.
It's extremely useful to have all of your bases connected. I'd even build an extra queen just for this purpose, if your other queens are too busy with larvae (as mine always are).
But the creep highway depends on what units you're using. Ultralisks or roaches can really benefit from creep. For hydras, it's all but essential. Zerlings and banelings, on the other hand, probably don't need it, and obviously mutalisks won't use it at all. If you feel your units will use it, then spend some time on it. If your army is mobile enough, or if you're relying on counterattacks and harass, it is less necessary, and probably not as important as just putting out more units and using the ones you have effectively. -
Being the experienced noob myself (i.e. I suck), stick with base units as much as you can. That's why I like terran. Marines can attack both ground and air units, are cheap, fast built, and you can queue up 10 at a time per barracks with the expansion.
I hang low rank bronze, and have opponents that have built only ghosts, thinking they'll nuke me, or someone going for a battlecruiser rush. As soon as I see those units fairly early in the game, I just waltz my twenty or so somewhat leveled up marines into their base and destroy them, because its clear they have little to no defense.
I'm also learning to scout a little better. If you can sense early void ray rush, mass missile turrets around your critical structures, marines, and a handful of vikings make quick waste of those things. Luckily the missile turrets and marines can build quickly enough, and buy enough time to crank out a few vikings if you need it.
Against zerg however, I have the hardest time. Maybe becuase I usually face protoss or terran. I have been demolished by a zergling rush on several occasions and have a hard time recovering (ie. I don't) from that initial attack if they do any kind of micro at all.
I guess one VERY IMPORTANT thing for a newb to realize, which more experienced players don't make note of, is all these strategies mean squat until you can improve your mouse movement, click, and macro rate. Don't know what you call that, but I have a firm understanding of what needs to be done but most of the time, nay, all the time, I can't do what I need to do quickly enough. I've been using computer since I was just out of diapers more or less, and can maneuver around any windows environment faster than most people, and my typing speed is quite fast, but for some reason my in-game management of units and resources really sucks. -
So, I officially cannot beat a competent Zerg player anymore as Terran.
blargh. -
Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.
Another question: How many drones does it take to saturate a mineral line/geyser? I've been reading that it should be saturated before I expand? I've been using this build to expand at 17. (i.e. when is it ok to fast expand, and when is it not?)
~1470 Diamond Zerg, Build Order YOU MUST KNOW - Forums - StarCraft II -
For gas, 3 workers each. For mineral patch, it's 2-3. 3's the recommended amount but you can get away with having about 2. So that's a grand total of 30 workers at main and 27 at expansions since mains have 8 mineral patches and 2 gas whereas expansions have 7 mineral patches and 2 gas.
For zerg, early expansion is normal. It tends to be at about 13-15 but some may wait until in the 20s or 30s. For protoss and terran, whenever you feel safe to do so. In fact, you expand whenever you feel safe to do so. This tends to be when you have your opponent be in a defensive mindset (You siegeing him, keeping him in base, harassing him constantly) or after you destroyed his whole army while you still have most of your army (He'll be afraid of a counterattack). Zerg's also quite gas heavy and relies a lot on many hatcheries to quickly produce units so expansion is the way to fund their army. In fact, a good zerg will always try to have one or more expansions than the opponent. A zerg must absolutely not be on the same amount of bases as a terran or protoss. If you opponent expands, kill their expansion or you expand too.
Do not wait until you run out of minerals/gas at your base before you expand. Try to do it as soon as you can as it will provide you extra income to produce units off more production buildings. Say for protoss, one base will only properly fund you for 4 warpgates but with 2 bases, you can get up to 8 or maybe 6 warpgates and a robotics or two. -
Logged in today for the the first time in awhile. Are drones spawning faster or is it just me?
-
They just seem to spawn faster because you can train multiple amounts of them
If you meant time, I doubt it
-
IMO the zerg buffs were over the top esp when combined with T nerfs.
The imbalance was nowhere near what the internet crowd thinks/thought it is/was. They're a bunch of sheep and it snowballed into the current 'every T unit is overpowered' mentality they have now.
But meh, I play random anyway so it doesn't hurt me as bad as it hurts T only players. -
High five random player!
But yes, the main reason people were screaming "Terran imba" is because of marauders. What does Blizzard do? Nerf everything EXCEPT for marauders.
Now Terrans suffer while Zerg shall rule surpreme :3 -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Zerg did not get too many buffs, but Terran did get a lot of nerfs.
Terran is still super strong vs protoss IMO but now Zerg probably has a good chance to win against Terran.
Protoss vs Zerg didnt change too much IMO -
Only change in PvZ is that protoss fast cannon expand is now easily broken with roaches ._.
And that queens can survive better against void ray rushes -
Where is everyone tonight? Isn't tonight SC2 nite?

They were all scared that they would have to go up against you in a 1v1 or team game so they ran.
-
Har har har I'm in stitches...
There's no stopping my marine-only force. You of all people should respect that! Oorah!
-
Pfft bring it I'll stop your marine only force with my probe only force
-
Probes? Probes? ohhhh noooo... run away run away! They have sharp pointy teeth!
-
Nahuh probes have the taser guns
Drones are the ones with the sharp pointy teeth

Me and Bacon got some games in. Won all our 2v2's except one and the one we lost was the one we thought we had in the bag :/
-
Yeah that always happens to you
Carelessly losing the game just because you think you got it in the bag
Happened to you twice against me
Also, good afternoon
-
I'd love to, but (a) hard to do while watching my kids at the moment (pretty much every day) and (b) my laptop is out of commission for the moment. Using my netbook for now. It's ok for watching replays, but don't know how it'd fare in an actual game.
-
That's handicap enough for me to beat you
jk
-
If my boys go down for a nap soon, then I might get a chance to play one game if you're still up and about. Finishing up lunch atm.
-
Alright
It's 5.30pm here and I just woke up 2 hours ago
I'll be up and about for some time
Go easy on me for the marines D: -
Is there a more efficient way to manage multiple queens and transfusion? Atm, I select all queens and when one queen is about to die, on the screen, I press alt and look for another queen with a lot of mana and press T and heal the queen that is low on mana.
I just wanted to confirm that pressing T with all queens selected, and clicking on the unit pane was not possible (and that I'm not doing something wrong).
Thanks all!
The queens are used for anti air base defense, btw. -
Just keep all Queens selected and transfuse the weakened Queen.
The Queen with the most mana will automatically cast Trasnfuse. -
Okay, huge noob question here- I definitely should know this by now but how do i add units/buildings to a hot key? I always end up having a different hotkey for every nexus because I i cant add them to the same hotkey. Also how do you remove units from a hot key?
Thanks =p -
To add: Shift + Control Group Number
To remove: Ctrl + Shift + Click on Unit Wireframe -
Thanks- I probably would have never figured that out. =p
-
I never knew that, thanks
