Not sure if this has been made already but whatever. Inspired by the BC2 friends thread, just leave your name so we can play some customs and practice 4 pools or PF rushes.

Does anybody on here know how long the beta will be around for? Thinking of preordering tonight b/c it comes with the beta.
Thanks! -
Originally it was only planned to go until May 17th. -
The dates I saw was sometime in May. Not too far away
-
amazon sent me a beta key and it said until May 17th.. so I dunno
-
C'mon.
I know there are more SC2 beta players free at NBR. -
Resubmitted mine because I changed my name a little with the reset.
-
-
F yeah EELMAN.
That was an awesome 2v2 4 game win streak we had.
Last game was especially fun.
Let's play again sometime. -
Just got a beta key. Will let you know as soon as I get my name set up.
Also, can I install this on more than one PC as long as only one is used at a time of course? -
-
I am super busy for the next week, after that I should be on plenty. So don't get discouraged if you add me and I'm never on.

downloading the client now, going kinda slow. I'll give it a shot instead of BFBC2 later today and if I decide I will play on a regular basis I'll post my info.
-
Yeah. Feel free to use the TeamSpeak server I have running (in my sig). Use "Game 3" or "Game 4" rooms. I will try to play this evening as well instead of BFBC2. Update is taking a while here too. I am going to install on both laptop and desktop.

you can delete Tyo as I have changed the name

Just played my first game...
I was protoss he was zerg... I started out slow and got owned pretty early on with his zerglings rush, took out my few units easy.
But while he was beating me down I got some canons up on my 2nd base and when he came after the 2nd base I got him with the canons, started to rebuild and soon enough he had air units, the cannons protected me for the most part and I started producing high templars for archons.
I got 3of them together and went after his base.
Looks like he just started a 2nd base and I tore it down quick, then I went into his main base, he had like 5 units to defend and my archons destroyed them quick. Leaving his city in my hands. I did not get the pleasure of totally destroying him as he quit the game
I really thought I was going to lose, but a unit I was familiar with the archon saved me yet again
Was my fav unit in the first game until one day the terran emp shockwave owned me. -
I like to play RTS games at a slower pace, and I get owned quickly. That's why I rather play with people I know who won't pounce on me right away. Especially being unfamiliar with the units, makes it hard. Although so far, it seems it's like Starcraft 1.5. Lots of same units, similar gameplay. A bit disappointed in that fact, but oh well.
Is there a way to rotate the view or is there only zoom in/out?
I also read there's a way to modify an ini file or something to at least play some against the AI. I might want to try that a bit until I get better. -
There's a way to rotate the camera 90* just like in Warcraft III with the Insert and Delete key although the camera won't stay in that position.
In order to play against some custom AIs, you need to replace a file in your SCII folder but I'm not sure these methods work anymore since patch 9 changed up a few things. -

My Beta name is.. ViciousXUSMC
Here is my first game ever... I did so bad but managed to win due to luck in the end.
I sent it to youtube but it said something like it failed to encode so I broke it into 3 pieces and uploaded it to rapidshare.
http://rapidshare.com/files/380315921/SC2_Beta_Game_1.part1.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/380319892/SC2_Beta_Game_1.part2.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/380323792/SC2_Beta_Game_1.part3.rar
Encoding my 2nd game now, came out a lot betteralso knew how to use the replay function better.
Video 2 on youtube, as long as the transcoding does not fail.
Also trying to find alternate places to upload the files without having to split it into archives or wait for downloadl like rapidshare. I can use 50mb archives and use MSN Skydrive, but I think my google docs site can hold the entire video without breaking it up.
Edit: here you go see if you can view/download the 2nd file from this link:
http://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0BxSmToYRry_dOWI2ZTFmZjEtMjUzNC00MTFlLTg4YjgtYTJmNTg3OGUwNzg0&hl=en -
Also, you know you could have just upload the much smaller .sc2replay of your match right? It's located at \Documents\StarCraft II Beta\Replays\Recent. -
I guess the replay file would be ok for people that HAVE SC2 beta, but not everyone else.
But couldn't hurt to upload the replay file for us that DO have the beta. -
Well there are instructions for those that wish to view SC2 replays and play against custom AI floating around the web: http://www.starcraft-replay.com/guides/how-to-watch-starcraft-2-replays-without-beta-access.php
-
Edit: Double post somehow...

I got it working on youtube now, for some reason it took it packaged as a .MKV but not (the recommended format) a .MP4
My 2nd game video is here:
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/z3ipofCKQoQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='480' height="385">
The first one I am uploading now.
Both are 1080p HD but the processing is not done yet to make that option available.
I love the end of the 2nd oneLast edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
To be honest, the entire match was screaming NOOB! The terran player was really really bad. Also your build order needs a lot of work, since any decent player would have harassed you with reapers and basically ended the game the first 5 minutes.
But still the mothership recall was awesome! -

That was my 2nd game, im still in the practice league. Of course it looks noob its the first RTS I played in like 10 years and I still have not even had a chance to try out all the new units/buildings.
Youtube has info tabs for the videos, I of course put those important details in there so people dont scream "noob" but alas people will anyways. -
Dang Vicious. What were those units that you dropped in at the end? They cleaned up without issue. Whoa. Your opponent was about as bad as me, well, I'm probably worse.

Cant way to play you htwingnut. We will have to try to setup a time for this week.
my name should be viciousxusmc.viciousxusmc -
We need to do a 2v2 against another 2, so you can I can just sit behind you... lol. With TS that should work nicely though to coordinate attacks.

But you're right, they clean house quite easily, especially with lots of small, packed units. -

It was a tactic that won me many games back in the original starcraft when I had a long game. Mass Archons recalled to the back of an enemy base.
Actually they did not do too good against the Terran units, that 6 I sent up the foot of his base got owned almost instantly. My first game however against Zerg they really were effective.
I do not recall them having bias in damage on the first game but in SC2 they do more damage against Biological. On the flip side though the immortals do more dmg to armor and also take less damage from strong attacks, and that guy had siege tanks and goliaths so it was his worst nightmare to see (or not see since they were mostly cloaked) the immortals.
I feel the new version of the dragoons are kinda weak, forget what they are called I used a bunch in the first game and was disappointed.
I also did not see the shields upgrade for protoss, that would have been a no brainer for archons. I noticed in my replay I had 0 upgrade to shields. -

An Archon drop/Recall is almost as bad as the good old Reaver drop. Maybe even worse, since Archons have the health to slug it out after they massacre the workers.
You are n00b.
Love, Forge.
PS: j/k -
Nice!
So yeah, if you look at the Platinum league 2v2, EELMAN and I are top 15.
EDIT: dropped to 50 something now. -

Just lost my first game after my 4 game streak.
I had a bad feeling going in for some reason. Instead of my normal tactics i though I would try something new but I think no matter what I would have done I would have lost.
I was against Zerg (always it seems) and after reading threads about how Zerg are OP that must be why I felt bad about the game.
I am still in the practice league so the stages have rocks and stuff to block off your base.
This guy had banlings and stuff blocking his rock so I didnt dare go in but since I never scouted him out I started to tech up and before I knew it I had Brood Lords golore and that other flying unit just all over the place in my base. I had a good amount of cannons up to protect me from flying attacks but the brood lord is a perfect counter those little guys just keep spawning and spawning and took out all my ground troops and my cannons without ever taking any damage to themselves. The only counter is air to air and he had those other units there to protect against that. I dont see any way I could have won this round, even if I had gone straight to stargates for air units he could have produced them way faster and the corruptors seem to be the most superior air to air unit as well. -
Only at the Korean servers in the Platinum/Gold league are the win percentages at all notable. The main problem is that Protoss does have weak Anti-Air.
Protoss has the BEST scouting unit in the game, the Observer, so you could have scouted his base pretty easily and probably teched up to colossus to win the game before he got broodlords. Endgame a good counter to mass broodlords is Stalkers with Blink and Archons/Templers. -

I had archons but even so they spawned stuff so fast I couldnt even get to them.
But yeah I need to make use of observers. Also need to learn zerg buildings so I know what they mean and also what can detect my guys. With no detectors I love dark templars.
I read a lot of people that said protoss has no good air to air units and that they need a buff. -
Scouting out your opponent early and often is incredibly important. The observer is pretty good against zerg for this, as most zerg players won't get the detector guy unless they see you getting a mothership or dark templars. -

Won't Void Rays get wrecked by massed air units, though? From what I understand their attacks are most useful against heavy hitters like Battlecruisers, Ultralisks, or Carriers.
I wish the Phoenix retained that overcharge ability it had in the earlier builds. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
They also nerfed void rays the last patch too.

Is anybody playing this game on a laptop with Intel HD Graphics? I'm about to get a laptop with this card and was wondering how StarCraft 2 performs. What about with the ATI HD 5430? It was the card I would of got if the promotion didn't end. XD

ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
It does not seem like a very demanding game, but since both my systems use quad core cpus and 5870 cards I guess I cant say I know out of experience
I would assume this game is going to be just as much cpu dependent as it is gpu dependent due to its RTS nature, lots of AI and physics work to take toll on the cpu and only moderate 3d graphics for the gpu to take care of.
