I see. Well The specs of my laptop are:
CPU: i5-430m 2.26GHz
RAM: 4 GB DDR3
GPU: Intel HD Graphics with up to 1696MB total available graphics memory
Display: 1366 x 768

Barely play at the lowest settings.
Going to get ~25 fps. -
Crap. Do you have this card and had first hand experience?
-
Yes.
My friend's Dell has similar specs to your laptop. -
Question. I just received my M17x with specs in my signature. I read the SC2 Beta forums and I expected to maintain 60 FPS even in heavy combat with dual 4870s at Ultra Setting with 1920 by 1200 resolution. However, I tried running it today and it gets to about 30 FPS or so in heavy combat. Is it my computer or is the game poorly optimized with SLI/XFire set up? I'm running 10.4 driver if that helps. Thank you!

Eh I wouldn't call it a nerf but not quite a buff either.
+ Base damage changed from 2 (+4 armored) to 5
+ Powered-up damage changed from 8 (+16 armored) to 10 (+15 armored).
- Armor value decreased from 1 to 0.
- Cost increased from 200/150 to 250/150.
? Changed to only have 2 damage levels instead of 3. Still takes the same amount of time to fully charge.
They do more damage but are slightly more fragile and just so slightly more expensive.
Ouch...the game is still in beta afterall
. I'm not sure about the SLI/Xfire support yet but I'm sure it'll come sometime down the line but for now try toning down some options like shadows and physics and see how that works out.

Wait guys. How about if I upgraded to the ATI Mobility HD 4530?
The promotion for the descrete ATI HD 4530 graphics card was over so I am now stuck with the Intel HD Graphics. But I can consider upgrading. Again my specs of what I am ordering:
CPU: i5-430m 2.26GHz
RAM: 4 GB DDR3
GPU: Intel HD Graphics with up to 1696MB total available graphics memory
Display: 1366 x 768
So would the ATI make a huge difference? It's another +100 dollar for the discrete graphics. -

It may be a 30fps game, I have not frapsed it, a game like this has no reason to run 60fps, 30 is more than enough.
30 is even enough for most fast passed fps games but 45+ is optimal.
But since there is no real fast paced "twitch" action 30fps will be butter smooth. -
The 4xxx series has poor performance on the SC2 beta. Blizzard already said that they would fix it for the final release.

I just got the invite a friend email containing two keys! :O
-
anyone have an extra beta key i can have?
thanks -
Ahh I see thanks random! I just lowered my graphics to high and I'm running it at ~100 FPS
. Played the first 5 matches to determine skill level and I was put in Platinum! Guess playing SC1 helped out a bit!

Micro/macro skill always carry over nicely.

hey my info is Deeds.com
Thanks! -
Hmm... Now that I think about it, am I just really lucky, or is it that Blizzard really loves me so much.
I didn't even applied for SC2 beta test, I've only got a Bnet account for my WC3, and one day last month I just received this mail:
There's no key though, just a starcraft beta game added to my Bnet account.
Then I logged on and played 3 games, was really laggy because of the internet connection, and it seems that the engine is like WC3, with the networking inside the rendering loop, lost all 3 games and tossed it aside. -
if you dont want it can i have ur key?
-
Don't have a key, it simply activates in my Bnet account.
-
What did u expect the engine to be like? its an rts... of course its going to be "like" any other rts.
