Starcraft II delayed until 2008

According to our colleagues at Gamespot, there will be no Starcraft II this year. In his interview with MSNBC, Blizzard’s vice president of game design, Rob Pardo smashed every hope that Starcraft II will come out this year.

When he spoke to MSNBC, Pardo said, “The only thing I can give you [that’s] concrete is it’s not going to be this year. Some people were hoping, because of how advanced the game looks, that we’d have it out by Christmas, but that’s definitely not happening.”

Pardo made few other hints about Blizzard’s future, with his statement that the 40 developers working on Starcraft II are “one of the smaller teams.” As Gamespot reports, job listings on the Blizzard site indicated on “next generation MMO”, which will not be yet another World of Warcraft. And further more, rumor about Diablo III development is still floating around the net, and we don’t have any doubt in Blizzard.

I wouldnt call it delayed since they never planned to have it in 2007. Anyway it was talked about yesterday here:

Oh what a shame. The launch of things like that are always delayed though aren't they?

 

According to Ebgames the estimated ship date is Oct 1st 2008...I am quite sad =\

i would be happy tho... cause i can finish my study by then... meaning... i will have enough time to play my favourite game which is star craft... lol...

 

they never announced a release date, so it couldn't have been delayed
but yeah, blizz doesn't release products till thier good.

 

Did anyone expect it in 07?
Usually games are released at least a year after they're announced.

 

I heard winter of 08 is when its released. Even then I wouldnt be surprised if they kept it from release until summer of 08 or even fall. But, with Blizzards track record of delaying games..its been worth it.

 

they do such a damn good job with their games. I'm sure it's going to be worth they wait. Funny I predicted winter 2008 and I'm beginning to see that date being thrown around. I wonder if I'm right.

 

This is ther baby, they wont detach the programing umbilical cord untill they know its nice and ready.

Untill then install good ol' starcraft and lets relive the good old days.

 

This is might be off-topic. But it will be funny if Blizzard releases another MMORPG after SC2 like "Universe of Starcraft" lol.

 

It's interesting how the reputation created by Blizzard's original employees has outlived them.

You can IF you hit yourself in the head with some accuracy of timing, fall into a coma until xmas 2008, then it will be like 2007 for ya

we should all just hope it doesn't get delayed over and over only to be dumped like the other starcraft project we shall never speak of again.......

 

It hasn't even been delayed yet....there was no release date.

Which im just fine with cause Blizz games are always worth the wait.

Since they have an unlimited budget I wish they had diablo 3 going at the same time

 

How about just adding the Terrans,Zergs and Protoss into WoW... that would be awesome! Alien invasion....
