I have starcraft on my old computer and i want to uninstall it and put it on my laptop. I lost the cd key and only have the disc. I am scared to uninstall it and remove any trace of my original key. Is there any way i can read what the cd key i installed with is before i unstall?

try the registry.
windows key + r --> type "regedit" --> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> find your applications folder and poke around. -
How about contacting Blizzard? if you got the copy from them, they`ll give you your cd key .

There's a Starcraft CD-key grabber program somewhere out there...

Starcraft 2 will be out soon enough.

Have a look at step 2:

you might have to copy a few registry entries and import them into your new pc.
alternatively..try this program. it could tell you your cd key

Alternatively you can just copy over the entire starcraft folder off your old computers hard drive, the CD key is already in there, I've done it before with Warcraft 3.

Thanks thats all i had to do. I didn't think it would work since it was xp to vista
It going to be a while till it comes out, its Blizzard. I need my fix fix, after all the hype about the next one. Also it won't hurt to practice before the next one. -
i've lost cd keys for games by other manufacturers and i called the help # and they had me read off a number written on the inner clear circle of the cd and they told me a new working cd key over the phone.
I dont remember them asking for any other proof of purchase, but it was a long time ago so im not sure.
try it.
