Start your engines! Mario Kart Wii Almost Here!

I like our little group of NBR Smash Brawlers, Finally online gaming thats free and fun for consoles and a game worthy of it.

Next in just 20 days from now is Mario Kart Wii, yet another game that just screams out for online mode. Its been officially announced that up to 12 people can play online together and for ANY mode, even lets you do Co-Op on your system and go online vs others, so you and your significant other can game together instead of against each other (helps prevent fights from when you own them over and over and they never want to play the game again) so who here plans to get it? What mode do you plan to do more racing or battle?

I want to get it on day 1 if I can, and try to do a video review just like I did for super smash bros brawl.

I look forward to seeing you guys on the track, I'll be sure to start a list of friend codes when the time comes so we can meet online and burn some virtual rubber.

 

My sister really wants to get this game. It was the main reason why we purchased a Wii. :/

i hate my wii...... my sister got it when it was all the hype and after beating Resident Evil 4, again, I've just unplugged it from the TV and it's collecting dust with my textbooks on top of it.

 

Gosh, I can't wait for this game either...

I think I may go reserve a copy today, I actually want it enough to justify a trip to guarantee I get a copy but I dont think it will be all sold out, Brawl was on the shelves when I wanted it at walmart when I was doing some grocery shoping.

 

Mario Kart makes me want to pick up a Wii.

Another game that was REALLY good IMO was Diddy Kong Racing, I liked it just as much as mario kart, multiplayer maybe not as in depth but the best 1 player adventure mode ever for this type of game and I liked how you had different types of vehicles (like the plane) I think they could really go far on the Wii if somebody picks up the project and does to diddy kong racing what they did to mario kart.

BTW there is a new vehicle type in the new mario kart, you can use the karts, but also now there are motorcycles. The 50cc class is karts, the 100cc class is motorcycle, and the 150cc class you get to pick.

 

Is Nintendo still crippling their online interaction by allowing you to only see the names of the people your playing with, and allowing no form of actual communication with them?

 

I dunno, probably but thats fine by me. You need somebody to race against not chat with. Thats what chat rooms are for or MMORPGs.

If they went full out with communication it would ward away some people because these are targeted as family games, soon as you give people a way to talk you know whats going to happen, all the little immature kids will start saying things they shouldnt and it will tarnish the pure aspect of the game and give it bad feedback. Plus then you would have to put effort into programing and stuff that could go into the core game, and then you would need like a keyboard or something too to really take advantage of it.

Really will you have time to type while your racing?

 

I beat my wii like it owes me money

 

I preordered it from circuit city and am having it delivered with free shipping. I may not get it on release day but soon enough and it saves me a trip to go get it. I'll probably be so busy with things and forget it even came out just like smash bros and when I get it in the mail it will be like a nice surprise.

Circuit City must have a distribution center close to me or something because everything I have ever ordered from them has arrived next day or in 2 days time even with the free 7 day shipping.

I decided I am going to do a video review of the game too, so look forward to that and feel free to give me hints/tips on the review or make request for what you would like to see.

 

brawl online kinda makes me wish i never bot an xbox 360 and xbox live.. because it spoiled me so. MK wii looks fun... but nintendo's gimped online still irritates me.

 

yeah I agree, I am sure it will get better. I mean it just rolled out and its nintendos first online network.

already played it.. living in Japan and its better then expected. Especially with the wireless steering wheel ( clip the controller in it ). Havent played the whole game yet

 

i hate wii's online games. they lag horribly. about 1/2 of the time the games are unplayable (namely brawl) and the fps drops down below 1. they need to fix up wii's online feature. luckily we're not paying for the garbage. other than that, mario kart will be tight.

 

Wow what has you out there in Tokyo!? I would love to be there (as long as somebody else is paying ) I planed on trying to use the steering wheel myself and not the game cube controller, even if its less accurate and not as competitive it should be more fun, and I am just looking for fun.

If I am not mistaken when you go online for a match up it shows the controller scheme the other people are using with an icon, and if they use the same controller consistently the icon turns gold. This will make it easy to determine if one scheme is better than the others if you notice a trend that the top 3 guys are always gold gamecube controllers.

 

Where can be buyed a Nintendo Wii in the USA?

Just have to look hard and have abit of luck. I think my mother in law is selling hers actually its still brand new in the box. She got it for x-mas and doesn't use it.

Just wanted to add some new information.

For those of you upset about not having chat. Well dont be upset it has been confirmed by hands on review by gamespot that there is chat. Its not in game while you race, but after races and before you can enter a chat room enviroment and talk. Its supposed to be good to discuss track selections or talk about races or what ever.

Also they say there gameplay has been virtual lag free except for a few minor occasions.

Im out here for University ( half japanese so ). I find the wheel funner but less acurate but more competitive since 4 people have a wheel its competitive everyone pushing each other in real life etc w00t.
